This probably won’t have an effect of many people here, but if you require PPPoE for your connection, I had the following issue with this device:

Throughput was limited to around the 2mbit mark…

PPPoE connection was, well flaky, sometimes it would connect after a fresh reboot, and other times the connection would fail.

If it did connect it was only a matter of time until it disconnected, and would not automatically reconnect.

This problem was apparent in some older linksys firmware’s, however normally resolved in the current releases… so perhaps in the future it will be fixed. The device did work fine, if the device was connected behind another device that had made the PPPoE connection etc

Unfortunately, although since Linksys bought Sipura their voip stuff is good, their router stuff - though popular - is bad.
The Linux based routers (eg wrt54gl) can be made better by the downloading different firmware:

But, this option isn't available for the voip/router combined products.

Just what I have done, I am now using the wrt54gl with DD-WRT v23 SP1-RC1 (05/07/06) std - not the latest, but proven to be very reliable.

Do you use PPPoE for WC?

Exactly - WC with PPPoE; DD-WRT v23 SP2 (09/15/06) std. Eager to use v24 with two SSIDs, but not till it's stable.

Been working like a charm since I dumped the Linksys voip/router box. Technicaly (I'm told) the problem with the Linksys boxes is that they fail to hold the full-duplex setting of the ethernet connection, falling back to half-duplex and thus grinding to a halt. Interesting point, Linksys didn't even blink when I asked for a RMA more than a year after I bought the product - got the distinct impression what I had to say was not news to them.

Does DD-WRT v23 SP2 (09/15/06) std have RP PPPoE, or the Linksys PPPoE or Kernel based PPPoE?

I upgraded my router last night to v23 SP3, as i was previously using RP PPPoE however when the connection get busy, the router was using 100% of the CPU....

Hi Unison

Just been browsing my DD-WRT interface and realise I can give a better answer than above:
I have "Connection Type" set to PPPoE, but "Use RP PPPoE" is disabled and "STP" is enabled. AFAIK this DD-WRT is based on OpenWRT which has no Linksys code - so, I assume the answer to your question would be "Kernel based PPPoE"
