I am in Wellington on the 40G/10Mbs plan. Noticing that response time was slow did a speedtest to the Auckland server. Here are my results

This is pretty shabby. Anybody else with any experiences? This is 8pm

Shocking here as well in Lower Hutt

576 kb/s downstream and 962 kb/s upstream.

Yes, very slow here too, way less than the average 7Mbps down we get...

Yes very slow, however when I ping Napier, via speedtest.net, my upload beats my download :p

I called TS and there was a recorded message about problems with PDQ but not cable. I wonder what's going on? Is it Wellington only?

You guys are doing better than me, my 10Mbit connection is currently performing somewhere in the region of a 512Kbps connection. Gmail is occassionally timing out while loading, that's how bad it is.

I tried rebooting the modem as per mention on their webpage, but as expected, no improvement.

Overall it seems to be _very_ rare for my connection to transfer better than 500KB/sec. The best I've ever seen from a speedtest has been about 850KB/sec. Pretty poor from something with a theoretical top speed of around 1.2MB/sec.

Just did the speedtest again, got 380KB/sec down, 205KB/sec up. Improvement...

I've been having problems like this the last few nights, I just thought it was someone else hoging the bandwidth in the house (I didn't run round and check.)

It seems to be ok early in the mornings, after about 6pm it turns to custard. Something, somewhere is getting overloaded.

Unimpressed. I thought I ditched just this problem when I switched from Xtra. Guess not.

It's shocking again tonight. Internatioanl traffic is either timing out or if it is working it's slower than GPRS..

My experiences also. Somebody from TCL listening? They also use the Southern Cross cable and I thought they used their own backbone infrastructure so unless we are somehow saturating cable capacity, what is the problem? Maybe it's time for TCL to ditch analogue cable completely and free up the bandwidth

Speedtest.net timed out from me in Johnsonville (Wellington), most other sites are too. Same yesterday night. I logged a call but got no reply yet.

Funny thing is ftp is going fine, i'm getting 100kBps up to my server in the US. tracert shows no issues either. I suspect throttling or not enough international bandwidth.

This is my current speedtest to Auckland from Wellington. That's pretty bad and indicates that perhaps the backbone in the NI is having a capacity problem

Mine's gotten better in the past hour or so. I've gone from timing out to 2Mbps down and 1Mbps up, that's while i'm sending an email with a large attachment. 4Mbps plan.
