Can anyone confirm that VFX interrupted dial tone does not occur when voice mail is recorded?
It seems to show up only after the phone has made an outgoing call, which may not be until the next day.

(I don’t have “message waiting light” so I rely on interrupted dial tone to tell me there’s a voice mail message.  Email notification isn’t much help as I’m not sitting in my email app all day long.)

Hmmm, your comments may shed a bit of light on things...

I have also noticed that the interrupted dial tone occurs sometimes and not others but I hadn't managed to figure out any pattern as to when it appears and when it doesn't.  It's certainly not a reliable indicator of a new voice message in my experience.

What always works for me is the flashing "NEW" LED and "MESSAGE WAITING" entry in the Caller ID list of my Uniden phone.  They are reliable indicators every time.

It would be nice if the interrupted dial tone was equally reliable.  Maybe this is something the VFX guys can look at?

My ATA device is a PAP2T.

Which device are you using Crichton?

P.S.  Something else I have noticed which changes all by itself is the Ring Cadence.  When I first joined VFX, it was a USA-style ring i.e. Buuuuurrrr, Pause, Buuuuuurrrr.

Then it changed to an NZ-style ring for a while i.e. Burr Burr, Pause, Burr Burr.  Now it's back to a USA-style ring again.  This last change seemed to coincide with the end of Daylight Saving where the time was one hour out for a day or so.  Strange???

If you can send me the time and date of the message I can take a look and see if there appears to be any issue, if you recieve the message waiting indication on the phone (MWI LED) then you should also be recieving stutter dial tone as it is exactly the same message to trigger the event.

The ring tone should be the NZ standard ring tone , can you let me know which device you have which is playing Americian ring tone please

In a PAP2 (infact any SIP device) the tones are generated by the device so to be getting a different ringtone means your PAP2 has to have had different firmware settings downloaded to it.

Actually it does depend on the network service you are using , tones for ringing can be played via the Network end, it actually depends on the messaging passed back to the end device if its a SIP 183 it plays it locally if its a a 180 it plays through the Network

It's a Linksys PAP2T and I notice it is now running 5.1.3(LS) firmware.

I just tested it again now, and definitely have USA-style ring tone at present.  Thanks for looking into this Phil Smile

HI Grant,

Problem resolved , you are correct it probably did occur when daylight savings changed, it affected only about 7 or 8 accounts total though (we will be looking at why only these accounts were effected) , these have all now been rectified

Just to confirm that both problems have now been resolved:

1)  Stuttered Dial Tone has worked perfectly during each of the 3 times I tested it just now (if it plays up again I will let you know)

2)  Ring Cadence is now NZ style

Great work and very prompt too, thanks again.

Same, PAP2T.

"If you can send me the time and date of the message I can take a look and see if there appears to be any issue, if you recieve the message waiting indication on the phone (MWI LED) then you should also be recieving stutter dial tone as it is exactly the same message to trigger the event."

Sorry, can't remember times. I tried four times on Sunday (none of them showed on the LED because I don't have one!), but also they didn't give me stuttered dial tone until I dialed 082210 and hung up again.
Tried again today  - twice - and stutter worked fine both times.  So maybe 1 April has some significance!
Thanks, I'll report back if it appears to disappear again.
