Is it just me or is the webpage about Vodafone TV really confusing about whether HD is free or not?

* For SKY Basic HD plus access to 36 channels of pay-per-view Vodafone Movies.
* Crystal clear HD at no extra charge

and

High definition - high definition content is included for no extra cost with Vodafone TV on selected broadband plans (excludes broadband plans no longer available to buy). To access high definition content you will need a high definition capable TV, have Freeview|HD, or have subscribed to SKY Basic and the SKY channels that include HD content like SKY Sport, and SKY Movies and SOHO.

which both seem to imply that all Sky channels that are HD are free for the HD option (if you have, of course, subscribed to them in relation to Movies, sports, etc.)

But then further down:

HD Ticket - $9.99 per month (per household) (SKY only). TV One, TV2, TV3 in HD come standard on the Vodafone TV Digital Recorder and do not require the HD ticket in order to receive them.

So, if you have Vodafone TV with Sky and subscribe to Movies/sport, do you get HD on those channels for free or not?

(Not that I do subscribe to those channels but asking out of interest...)

I don't work for VF, but i think the HD is free on only on their new UFB service, but if you get it over cable (or have it as a satellite add-on to DSL) then you have to pay the $9.99

Also, I beleive you are correct about the content that is HD. AFAIK, the only content that is HD is the content that Sky has in HD too i.e. movies, soho, sports, some Freeview channels. Other stuff like Discovery, Four, or Kidzone is not HD anywhere

Vodafone TV comes with HD for free..
SKY with their own Satellite decoder you will need to pay.

Well, it says in your quote

high definition content is included for no extra cost with Vodafone TV on selected broadband plans

So, if you're not on a selected plan where it's free, its an extra $9.99/month is how I would interpret it. Can't find where it says which plans qualify though?

It's definitely misleading/confusing. I initially thought they were saying that all channels are HD for free with their Sky offering, but the fact they are still advertising the HD ticket obviously means that it's just the FTA channels that are free. This is a bit better than Sky as you need to pay $15 p/m to get MySky HDi to get the FTA channels in HD.

well you still need to pay VF the $14 per month for their STB to do the same. Their STB is free on the higher end plans, but then so was MySky, so it's not really that much different.

The UFB services has free HD, Anything else may charge.

Look on the site to see the plans that include it..

Ugh now I'm confused again when I thought your previous response had answered it - so:
Vodafone TV with Cable : HD ticket required
Vodafone TV with UFB : HD ticket not required
Sky Decoder with ADSL (presumably) : HD ticket required

?

(Which kind of contradicts the previous answer where it was only if you had an actual Sky Decoder that you required it)

To further confuse the situation. If SKY has access to a channel that is in HD but they only show in SD National Geographic for example will Vodafone show it in HD? Or is it more likely there is both a SD and HD feed and they purchase just SD so Vodafone can only show in SD?

If it is over UFB and HD originally then yes as no compression of HD on UFB.

That content in watchable HD would possibly swing me to getting vodafone tv. Gave up on sky ever presenting it in something that looks even 10% decent.

Then again, I have the internet so.....?

Except that NatGeo doesn't deliver to you in HD because your content provider is still sky.

My question is... I am in a cable area that is also supported by fibre. Will VF swap me to fibre for my current cable services. The answer in the past would have been no.
