Our tbox is full but set to automatic disk space management. I was under the impression it deleted the oldest items first. Sometimes it will record but other times fails with out of disk space.

How can it fail with out of space if disk space is managed automatically?

FelixW: maybe delete some recordings?

Have you got a TBOX? do you know how long it takes just to delete 1 recording its so painful i just call them to get a tech out to replace the box when its full. I've now stopped recording shows that i might watch and only record if im not going to be home to watch.

I wouldn't need to do the painful process of manually deleting if the automatic option worked properly. Even scrolling to the latest recording is a pain. Don't know why it can't show newest first.

Thanks, I never noticed that, it would be nice to make that the default.

I manually deleted all but 1 page of recordings and the space free went for 7% to 9%, only 2% extra.   Since i only have about 10 - 30 minute programs, it seems like somehow the space is messed up?

I can't find a menu option to format and clear everything.  It seems like there is some sort of corruption?

Has the space increased now if you look in the planner?

It jumped to 12% now when I opened it.  Is it processing the deletes in the background?

I still don't understand why automatic disk management doesn't work, and why the programs that fail are random, it will fail programs in the middle of the night with insufficient disk space, then record one later in the night.  (both are half-hour programs).

As Shrub said... Deleting is slow and takes time.

Am I misunderstanding what the automatic option is supposed to do?  Nobody has mentioned why it fails to record when the disk space management is set to automatic.
