All the time Vodafone keep making up excuses that somethigns wrong with their system which is not allowing Telecom to port their numbers. This is stopping Telecom from being able to grab customers that they could normally. I hope Vodafone is getting big fines for this because its effecting Telecom business!

And people say Telecom has issues lol Yell

I was listening to Newstalk zb the other week on the technology hour (think its Tuesdays from 4 to 5) Anyway, they were saying that there have been no problem with number portability but they were surprised none of the companies were advertising the fact that customers could move accross to them and keep their number.

Sorry to say clearly you have not researched about number porting. I suggest you do this first. If you want to port a number away from a provider you dont contact the provider you are porting from but the provider you wish to port to only. Seems strange ringing vodafone to port your number off vodafone.

Could this be the reason?

seems thats when a client attempts to port from Voda to TNZ there have been a tonne of issues, often atleast once a week there is a down time where the porting facilitator (not TNZ or Voda) cannot access Vodas systems to port the client across to TNZ.

the word on the street was that Voda weren't ready for this on April 1 and that is been obvious since. Although TNZ have had roaming issues with the odd ported client, generally from my experience the issues are not on the TNZ side of the fence, makes a change.

No no, I have researched it lol, I have also done training on it as I do the number porting. I never said I rang Vodafone, I know they have been down, just a little sick of it happening all the time. Now from today (22nd) while they do all their "back end system upgrading" you can not port to Telecom. How many times are they going to do this!!

RE: mjsit&t - Yes that is correct, Vodafone was not ready for the number port release date, Telecom had 300 customers using the porting before the release date making sure it was all working, Vodafone started their testing when it was released lol.

That's not quite true.

Vodafone's main problem was that their billing system is over 2 years late. Even the original Jan/Feb rollout would have been fine but instead they had to make some ugly changes to their legacy systems to support it. I'm sure Vodafone didn't plan on the mess they have managed to get themselves into but hopefully in a few weeks time will have dug themselves out of the whole. The real issue then will be addressing their marketing and customer retention issues.

True, their billing system was not up to speed. They taking a long time to fix it all, I mean almost a month and a half till they have full service again.

The changeover is actually only from the 17th until the 27th May. From this Sunday everything should be workin on the new system. The next 5 weeks are effectively a "rest" period to ensure everything is running smothly.

But that doesn't mean anything to customers because they still can't access services for over a month..
