I have a legacy ihug email address (had it since I had ihug satellite back in the 90s).

When I switched to ADSL, I kept it on, then I migrated away from Vodafone when we shifted house (long story about how much they wanted to charge me to move house).

I got my account downgraded to the cheapest dial up account just to keep my email address, and it has been working fine.

I noticed this morning (only because we have just refinanced and I had to re-setup the APs from my bank account) that what was previously costing me $5.06 a month (I was happy with that) is now $20+ a month (I am not happy with that!).

Has anyone else had this happen? What a ripoff!

I know, I know, I shouldn't use ISP email, but we have had this address for nearly 15 years I think, and now Vodafone is extorting me. I have tried to call, but obviously there are big issues today as no-one wants to answer the phone (I know there is some issue in West Auckland today, so not their fault).

Anyone from Vodafone able to offer some insight into this or do I finally have to give my email address up?

Hi

Yes, there is a programme in place - emails and communications have been sent out, sorry if you didn't receive them -you do have a choice between an Unlimited Dialup plan or an Extra Mailbox Only plan. Sorry about the phone wait - there is a specific number to call 0800 329 934. You should be able to keep the iHug email address with either plan.

Thanks for the replies Mike.
I have 2 emails on that account, so will probably still move away, but it is in credit so I will use that up while I migrate.
Bit gutted really, seems a lot of money for one email address.

Also, Mike, I am trying to get thourhg now, but 10 minutes on hold so far. What are my chances of a credit for the two months I have been charged $20 when I wasn't informed of the upcoming change?

I have scoured my emails too by the way - there was a notice at the bottom of my November bill, but I always just direct credit the $5.06 monthly).

I was informed by a letter. I don't think an email communication was sent about this other than the notice on my invoice.

Calling 0800 329 934? DM your details and I'll get someone to look into it.

Replying to watch this as I check out my own bill - Currently have Mail+ enabled to keep the Clear Net email alive and won't be happy if the price has just been randomly increased with no communication.

This has nothing to do with the Clear email addresses.
Addresses affected were @quik.co.nz,@wave.co.nz and @ihug.co.nz. There were possibly some @vodafone.co.nz addresses affected but I'm not sure.

My November bill supports this

You may want to check out a thread I started on this topic a while ago. I see Vodafone still are mixing this up as it has now been confirmed the amount was definitely for 5 mailboxes. Or maybe its changed again or staff still dont know :(

No confusion. One plan for $20.45 includes 5 email addresses and unlimited dial up, the other for email only is $5.12 each (one email address).
