Hi All

Just had Vodafone fibre installed along with a TelstraClear labeled Technicolor TG789v3 router. Mostly works fine however get connection errors when attempting to play Mario Kart 8 Online. Nintendo's suggested solution to that particular error code is to place the Wii U into the dmz so i attempted to do so following this (http://help.telecom.co.nz/app/answers/detail/a_id/20201/~/dmz-mode---thomson%2Ftechnicolor-modems) guide. However it appears that these routers have been locked down by VF/TCL and am unable get past step 6.
So i attempted to replace the TG789v3 with a netcomm nf4v i previously had for VDSL, basically deleted the existing WAN interfaces and then created a new IPoE interface with VLAN set to 10. This worked and the issue with Mario Kart was resolved (without putting the Wii U into the DMZ). However after about 30 mins I was disconnected and had to revert back to the TG789.
I'm wondering if there are any settings i may have missed or perhaps there is some authentication at VFs end causing the disconnection (i was under the impression that the authentication was purely done based on the cvid of my ONT however i'm not completly sure).

Any thoughts/suggestions?

Thanks
Scott

Been playing around with it some more. When disconnected with the nf4v plugged in if i plug in the tg789 for ~1min then plug the nf4v back in it starts working again.

Just a wild guess, but have you tried cloning the MAC address of the technicolor with the netcomm?

Yeah i was thinking that, but from what i've been able to find it isn't possible with the netcomm. Might pull the old wrt54gl out and see what it can do.

Hi.

Last time I checked we didn't do that router for ufb but as an interim for VDSL when we ran out of hg659 modems. Can you pm me and I'll check to be sure this is right.

Cheers

This is the correct modem for Northpower UFB areas.

I would be interested to hear if an alternative modem works with a cloned MAC address.

Woohoo got it working with my WRT54GL using Toastmans VLAN build of Tomato, cloning the mac address of the tg789.

At first i attempted to use ddwrt, however no luck with the vlan config - apparently there is a known bug or something.

I to am having trouble with the T/C Technicolor modem.  I have a Netcomm N900 NF2 that  I would like to switch over to using as I have found the Technicolor one keeps dropping my wireless.

Any help on trying to do this would be very much appreciated.

Thanks
