Just had Telstraclear knocking on the door, apologised for recent EPG/STB issues due to multiple new connections in my neighbourhood. He told me that this week our 4Mbps/20GB plan would be upgrading to 10Mbps for free. I asked about people on the 10Mbps plan going to 25Mbps but he said they would remain at 10Mbps and perhaps in a couple of months would be bumped up to the higher speeds. I asked about better outputs on STBs but no real word on those apart from units being tested at the moment but no idea about rollouts. Well I'll keep an eye on my speeds this week, will be nice if I do end up on 10Mbps.

I've notice my speed has been quicker for the past couple of weeks (I'm on the 4Mbps plan).  But only around 4-5Mbps - not what I'd expect from the 10Mbps plan.  I'm in Wellington, BTW.

Me too.. 80gb per month. In my case I wish my download speed was slower and my upload speed was faster! :)

I'd rather they came round my house and offered to put up my data cap rather than my speed Laughing

I just received the following email from TelstraClear and I'm very happy!

Hi

We've got a present for you and you don't even have to unwrap it!

We will more than double your broadband speed.

That's right! From August, for no extra charge your broadband download speed will be increased from 4Mbps to 10Mbps!

There is nothing you need to do to receive your increase. Your plan will be upgraded some time between now and the 1st of August.

Merry Mid-Winter Christmas and thank you for choosing TelstraClear.

redjet - what cap are you on?  I remember last time that they only upgraded the speed on the higher capped 2Mbps plans to 4Mbps.  Wonder if it's the same this time?  Any web-link with the email?

Thanks

Just took at look at their price-plans - http://www.telstraclear.co.nz/residential/inhome/internet/highspeed/

They've changed the "Highspeed" 20GB 4Mbps to 10Mbps, but still call it "HighSpeed". How confusing!!!

No sign of the rumoured 25Mbps plan, though.  Wonder what they'll call it?  "FTL"?  Warp Factor 9?

HighSpeed 20G

  • 20G of monthly traffic
  • 10 Mbps downstream / 2 Mbps upstream
  • Choose your ISP - paradise.net or clear.net
  • Free helpdesk support
  • 1G additional usage packs charged at $2.95 per month per pack

Hi there, sorry I should have mentioned that.  I'm on the 20gb plan.  No link unfortunately.

Is this an automatic upgrade for existing 4Mbps/20GB users?

I've just received a similar email.  The bottom of the email states:

Broadband speed increases apply to TelstraClear's InHome 5GB and 20GB plans only. For a detailed overview of TelstraClear InHome broadband plans go to www.telstraclear.co.nz/residential/inhome

I'm on the 20GB plan myself...

Yes, based on the email I received and as JONC has posted there is no more 4Mbps/20GB plan it's now a 10Mbps/20GB plan.
