I went to sign up for my fourth VFX line today - I have two business numbers, and one residential number so far, and I was advised that if you have more than 2 VFX lines on one account, you will now be charged for local calls.  I was told this was a new policy because that is what Telecom does.

So, since this was another residential number, I had to move my other residential number into a new account to avoid these charges.

Seems like more work for WXC and for me when I thought things were getting simpler Frown

Hi Graham,

I would think that quite possibly you would be fairly happy with the arrangement, WorldxChange has been pretty good I think you will find with what we are classing as a commercial service, we have to pay our part of the TSO (kiwi Share) which subsides local calling for Residential customers and where make some of this cost up is in local call charges for Businesses when calls go offnet ie to Telecom.

Now what we could have done is to say well if your a business you will pay business rates for everything, but no being the kind of people we are we have said we will class 2 VFX lines on an account as residential, now small SOHO business are going to like that don't you think, but if you have more then we will need to class you as a commercial and there will be commercial charges.

I note you have 2 lines for your Business so if we wanted to follow the standard rules your lines charges would all be commercial including local call charges and my CEO on seeing your comments is actually more than happy to accept that.

We are supplying a pretty good service we believe with some excellent features and your getting great pricing and you even get free local calls though realistically you are a commercial customer for a couple of lines, so the way we sort the Residential from the Commercial is to have a condition where more than 2 lines on an account is classed as Commercial,   but sometimes it seems that everybody wants everything for nothing and whilst we would love to give away everything we are still are business and do require some payment for services and commercial accounts should be getting charged for calls and this is our way of doing it.

The CEO was happy to put all services  on one account and we will make your Business Lines commercial charges and rates including Local call charges....your Call Graham Wink

Phil, this is half related but hope it is not considered "off topic":  Any chance of a residential calling option to pay for local calls and get some discount on line rental?  I think free local calling is a nice idea, but like many things in life it is not ideal for everyone.  We make very few calls, but when we do it is mostly overseas anyway or short local calls.  I will however understand if you can not provide a line for which you do not have to pay your part of the TSO (or what ever).

You can never have enough Volvos!

This was the one thing the Woosh phone was good for... It allowed local calling to businesses though trying to get 4 lines working would be just OMG impossible.

I also thought that WXC was following the lead set by Woosh who do not differentiate business from home users, and since I had not once come across the notion that WXC was going to charge for local calls posted this so that others would not be as ignorant as I appeared to be.

As for my two business lines, I was originally with TC with one line and two numbers.  However, when my numbers were ported, I was advised that your software did not permit this, and so I had to have two lines if I wanted two numbers.  If this has changed I'd happily drop back to one line.

Although we do get a great service, it is not without it's hitches.  My residential line has been down for a week now, and no ETA on when this will be up.  Apparently my PAP2T is being reported as a SPA2102 and can't load the registration data.  Perhaps that was a by product of when I had the numbers associated with the MAC addresses swapped over ... oh well, living on the cutting edge.Frown  Still , I'm fairly confident your techs will sort it out which is why I am going ahead with another residential number ...

Hi Phil
I took my pap2t around to a friends place on Friday night to try to sell him on the idea of VFX as he has a small business here in New Plymouth. My friend is very keen about it. So if he was to have his home and business VFX service on the one account it would be classified as a residential going by what you have said in the box above is that right? I am certain he will only have 1 at his business premises and 1 at his home if he went ahead with it

Yes that is correct, 2 VFX lines on the same account will be classed as a Residential Account, he would need 2 devices though one for each location
