Just got a letter from Vodafone saying to align with industry standards your UFB Speed of 200/50 will become 200/20 WTF. This has to be a joke.

Maybe that would be alright for new plans, but I disagree in them doing that to customers for existing plans! Annoying.

We moved house recently and we were 100/50 with Vodafone and I just assumed we would be put onto 100/20 seeing as you can't get 100/50 anymore, however the speed remained at 100/50.

So it would appear there's nothing physically stopping them from keeping it at 200/50, obviously just a business decision but not sure how it benefits the ISP.

Just got off the phone with Vodafone Assurance and it is chorus screwing things up again. Same company that came out one day and told me I should be happy with an ADSL download speed of 1mb. It took me two months to get them to eventually go back to the exchange and actually check out what was going on. Low and behold their was a problem with my port and then magically the speed went back to 14mb down. In my opinion Telecom and its various subsideries have had a monopoly for to long. They have ripped other ISP's off on wholesale pricing etc etc. Yet they still exist. It is so frustrating.

It's clearly just a business decision - the newer Evolve plans are cheaper than the older ones and they presumably want to focus on aligning them across all customers.

from them
"industry Standards"..."while we can still buy and retail 200/50 we can get the other one cheaper..so we are moving you."

from you
..."while I agreed to a 2 year contract for 200/50 you can either a) GFYS or b) let me out of my contract so I can go to a different provider who is offering what I want."

Two months? Took me a day to get Chorus back out here to inspect the ducting for UFB (something they apparently didn't do first time out).

Hi John http://thestandard.org.nz/everything-you-wanted-to-know-about-the-chorus-deal/ still the way I see it sorry can't refer to them as Spark seems a dumb name to me will always be Telecom.

My beef is that we are going backwards here not forwards. I don't care about the price drop was happy with current price.

Going with another provider is not an option for me. To heavily invested in Vodafone. Changing wouldn't make a difference as plan is going from what I understand.

Not from what I've been told, anyway unless Vodafone have some very slimy weasel words in their contract with you, bad luck for them, if they can't offer you the service you signed up for because their supplier contract was dicey they need to offer you something you are happy with.  200/200 for instance

As a slight aside a friend of mine who found out I was on 100/50 signed up with them just after they made the plan changes to 100/20. After many hours on the phone and threatening  to take is business away as well they relented and changed his home UFB to 100/50

As you can see from what is below Chorus is still offering plenty of high speed plans that Vodafone can continue to sell you.

So you link to a left wing rag who can't even get the facts right:

"It is basically an offshoot from Telecom that looks after New Zealand’s telecommunications network infrastructure."

No, Chorus and Spark/Telecom are two separate entities - repeating the same half baked drivel multiple times doesn't magically make it true.

Again, Chorus and Spark/Telecom and two separate entities - keep repeating until it sinks in.
