I am using vodem with Vista Ultimate and I get this error after a long usage, say nearly after 2 hours or so,

And after this error, a reboot only allows me to connect to the Internet. Even I cant connect using my other Internet connection Frown

Any idea on this error ?

I googled a bit and found that this error 10013 is related in creating raw sockets and from Windows NT 4.0, only administrators can create raw sockets. I tried disabling UAC and also I switched off my Firewall (Kaspersky too) and also tried allowing full permission for VMC_LITE software through Kaspersky, but this error is happening always.

Any ideas/suggestions ?

Thanks

Regards,
Chaks

I am getting exactly the same problem using a vodem and Vista Home Premium. Except it seems to happen sometimes after an hour or less.

I might try ringing up vodafone on Monday (I have the day off) but I'm not too optimistic that they will be much help. If I find out anything useful, I will let you know.

Can you send me the link please?

As far as I have seen, there is no software for Vodem for Vista and Vodem has to be upgraded from an XP machine for it to work with Vista, but now, the vodafone retailers have Vista ready Vodem and I got a Vista ready vodem

This is the page for Vodem and if you get a vodem now, you get that software + vodem upgraded for vista in the box itself :)

The above link I provided is for different software that will work with the vodem 9.1.2

V7.05/7.03 VMC software works well with the vodem on XP and offers the SMS function

I have tried using full VMC but had the problem of the software locking out all my other internet connections (wireless, ethernet etc).  Have not tried it for a while but does anyone know if software updates have resolved that issue?  Even saying NO to allowing VMC to optimise the settings did not fix.

The full VMC hasnt worked for me for Vodem and the VMC_LITE that pops up when you plug-in vodem works great with Vista and be sure you install this vista update for 3g networks. After installing this update, its really stable and dont get weird errors. The vodafone people too told me that there is no need for VMC full software for vodem as it pops up the vmc lite for connect/disconnect/usage statistics and also to choose your network (manual/automatic/2g/3g)
