IS there any more word on this? I need a replacement for my VCR but want to know whether the PVR will be coming soon or whether I should just get a DVD recorder?

Working on something now, it's not certified by TCL (so most probably against their T&C's)... but it works a treat from my testing.

You need a PC or Samba/CIFS/NFS to store the recordings... but there is a more expensive version of the dreambox that does have a HD... but I am not bothering to bring them into the country since $600 for a cable decoder + PVR is a lot of cash to pay for a subscriber system where there is only one cable provider in the country.

I have asked Telstra this question simply because it is so annoying not to have a MySky option, this was their reply:

Thanks for you interest in PVR or our version of My Sky.

We are currently working on our plans for a network based version of the My Sky solution, which would be a

monthly charge rather than a high up front cost.

At present I can't confirm dates, however we will advise all TV customers once we can confirm the launch timing.

Doesn't help you with timing though....

John

Sounds like a more atractive solution to the high cost of a MySky..
