After confirming via 777 this would be okay, I went into a Vodafone shop yesterday to bite the bullet and finally purchase the Nokia Lumia 930, paying it off over 24 months on my bill.
I was all set to pay the woman at the counter the $100 deposit (I would have paid $150 but she said $100 was the set amount) and then pay $25 a month for the phone. However, she said she had to "check on something" and went out the back.
Turns out as "the price of the phone has changed", "there is no $25 a month option"? She said she would have to consult with her manager and get back to me, probably later this week.
So, I walked out of the shop without a new phone, which was disappointing to say the least.
My questions are:

I'm sure I'm not the only person in the entire country who wants to do this. So why is there not an option for it? What happens when the price of other devices changes?
Can I still buy the phone in this way, and if not, why was I told via 777 that I could?

The handset price has probably increased due to the falling NZ dollar and the Vodafone system hasn't been updated. The sales staff would have probably just been told not to sell it at the old price.

As it's probably not a handset they sell tons of like the iPhone or Samsung Galaxy range updating the system for this handset probably isn't priority. Either that or they haven't had the new increased price in yet.

The iPhone 6 128gb went up $200 on Apple.com

I stand corrected. Possibly just a system update issue then.

my maths may really suck but $699 less the $100 deposit is $599

$599 /24 = 24.9583  = $25 ??? im lost

Very sorry to hear there's been some confusion. The monthly device payment option is available for particular phones at particular price points. This is tied to how the phone is paid for in our system, it's essentially like an add-on that lasts for 24 months. There's a monthly device payment product configured at $799 but not at $699, so unfortunately the Lumia 930 is no longer eligible for purchase in that way now that the price has reduced. We have a request in with the online team now to remove the Lumia 930 from the monthly device payment page.

That... that seems like the most ridiculous way to do it, lol. Is there a plan to change this to at least be some specific cutoff, like handsets $500 and over? Or is it currently that, and it's just the cutoff is $799 ?

If I'd known that was the situation I wouldn't have gone into the shop yesterday...not impressed, especially after being told on the phone it would be fine. I guess that doesn't count for anything?

I just spoke to someone at customer services (in the Philippines) who, while very polite, wasn't overly helpful, nor did she seem to be listening, directing me to the store to pick up the phone - which I had explained twice didn't work. Anyway she's going to get someone from their sales department to call me back within 48 hours. I'll be interested to see if they actually bother calling.

As much as it pains me to say it, seems like a major issue with Vodafone these days - left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. I was hoping the mobile side would avoid this sort of thing, but I guess not :(

Oddly, I went to the Glenfield shop last Sunday and they would "get back to me". I never heard anything until I went in today. I also spoke to their phone sales team who me that yes, I could do this. Spoke to them on Tuesday, was told "3-5 working days" and "you will get an e-mail confirmation". Do you think I ever got one? It's almost like they don't want my money.

I note Dylan has no comment to my response to his post either.
