We live in a rural area with very patchy cellphone coverage. We do have decent internet though. I'm looking at getting one of these Vodafone home cellsites.

1. Can these be used on a non Vodafone internet connection?

2. What is their range?

3. Do they also work for SMS?

You must be using a Vodafone broadband connection for the Sure Signal.

' Sure Signal ' you are speaking of they a mini low powered 3G 2100Mhz site and do the same as a normal cell site expect the transmission path back to the Vodafone Core is over the Broadband connection, Other question answered on the VodafoneNZ site

http://www.vodafone.co.nz/mobile/3g-sure-signal/

Edit: WxC customers can also use them

What location is this in - next to a major highway but still classed as rural? Just curious.

Great, thanks. So back to the original post. I want to know from a technical point of view who is doing this and how? Thanks.

@MichaelNZ maybe a RBI site might cover the location better in the future and approx where would this be?

We won't be getting RBI because we already have VDSL2 available. I am in Norsewood.

Maybe a new coverage site then in the future and not a RBI site, Coverage is not static and changes every week

My point of view is:
I have naked VDSL2 and successfully use VoIP. If it comes down to it I'll spend the $200 and port from 2degrees to Vodafone if it does what I need. But I'm not moving my internet connection.

I enquired recently and was told they didn't have anything at present. I'll have another look.

I find it Ironic you complain about Vodafone coverage in a certain location when you are not a Vodafone customer
