Hi folks,

Has anyone here transferred their homeline from Slingshot to Xnet? I already had my broadband with Xnet and earlier this week started the process of transferring the homeline to VFX. Soon after that I received email to say my account has been activated. Unfortunately nothing happened after that - my landline is still alive and with Slingshot.

I first rang Customer Support, who then transferred me to Technical, who then said there's something wrong with the transfer from Slingshot and he would get someone from Sales to call me on the same day. The day went past with no calls from anyone at Xnet. I then rang Sales to find out what's happening, and was told everything was fine and he couldn't see anything wrong. He said he'd get a Technical guy to call me.

This is beginning to feel a bit like worrying - that sneaky feeling nobody is sure what's wrong and is passing me around in hope that someone may accidently figure out what's happening. Sorry, I'm not being nasty about this - I realise this whole thing is probably still in "infancy" and nobody expected it to be this complicated, especially porting my number to VFX.

Has anyone done this successfully from Slingshot? If so, how did you do it? Any comments/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Dany.

Hi Dany

No thats fine your absoultly not being nasty, just expressing concern and probably a bit of frustation I would imagine, we understand that completly and your right it is still in it's infancy and a few things have been found wanting. I take it your talking about Xnet Fusion here is that correct ? if so there may be some issues with this as it appears some of the home Lines providers are having some resistence to the whole Naked DSL thing with releasing lines and some processes may not be in place.

If it's just a number port then that actually is very easy we have done a lot of italk numbers and they generally go pretty well, let me know what option you have and we will see what we can find out, the tech support guys do a great job but due to the complexity and issues that some of the Naked DSL changeovers are throwing up they actually won't be to sure themselves whats going on,?

So we will try and see whats going on, we may not get to many answers over the weekend but if you can supply the details here and perhaps PM your details I will see what I can find out.

Thanks for that Phil. I am actually transferring from standard landline, which was with Slingshot, not from iTalk. And yes, I am transferring to Fusion and porting my number. It was a battle enough trying to explain to the Slingshot guys what is happening, and what I am expecting from them for a smooth transfer with minimal loss of service.

Anyhooo, the whole thing is nothing special I guess - it should be just like transferring from Telecom, right? Well, theoretically anyway. Having said that I have to admit I am utterly confuzzled about the whole thing - still not sure what the process is or what to expect.

Will PM you my details shortly.

Cheers.

It *should* be, however they may or may not be able to provide a temporary number or customerlink-like service if you wish to keep broadband while your number is being ported + nDSL is being set up.

Cokemaster is right here Dany, apparently it's not as simple when changing from other providers a couple of other posts have highlighted this as well. but we will see what we can find out , it may not be till Monday I'm afraid.

Yup - I figured it's never as simple as it looks - things rarely are. Although it does seem that I am the first Slingshot -> Xnet homeline transfer case. Perhaps my troubles will be worthwhile if we can nut out a procedure out of all this...

Hey, thanks guys - and thanks for the extra efforts Phil - that's trully appreciated - Northern Cantabrians have to stick together I guess :P

Other posters in recent threads have found it necessary to take their phone line back to Telecom before starting the whole Naked DSL / Porting process.  At least that way, you know you can do the Customer Link part and it also happens much more quickly in my experience.  Telecom can usually take control of your line within 1 or 2 business days AFAIK.

I thought the very same thing this morning! Although it all seems a bit too late now :(

Watching this post with interest, as I plan to move my Slingshot home line to Xnet Fusion if my VFX trial goes well...

Seems a hastle having to move back to Telecom for a month...   Hopefully WxC will work out a process for non Telecom providers...
