I would like to know when vodafone will bring out a RBI package to match what other rural broadband providers are offering.

I thought about changing isp because I have been with vodafone RBI since Sep 2014 .
but found out today that when I had my free modem upgrade that my contract allows for, a year ago , voda signed me up for another 24 months.

Apparently getting a 4G modem meant a whole new contract, I had no idea they had done that.

So I am stuck with them .

But now they have joined with sky they will not want rural users to have to much data in case we ditch sky. I certainly would

most just resell vodafone products and are able to buy data in bulk

It's not in Vodafone's interests to have the most completive product offering in the market when they are both a retailer, and wholesale provider of the RBI network. To do so runs the risk of having their hand smacked for being anti competitive.

Of course getting new free hardware would be a new contract term! They need to pay a hardware supplier real $$$ so you can get new hardware

The Vodafone / Sky deal is not even approved yet by the comcom

Actually I paid $100 which was what I paid for the original modem when I signed up in Sep 2014.
All I was doing was upgrading my modem not my contract.
If I was to upgrade my adsl to Vdsl would vodafone want me to sign a new contract ?

Remember the RBI providers are reselling Vodafone RBI, their base rate is what they pay Wholesale.

While Vodafone could equally offer them (and likely slightly cheaper) as others have pointed out, its anti competitive, that will only lead to the comcom being involved.

Realistically, the end to end support the RBI Resellers out there offer is another massive reason not to be direct through Vodafone.

Yes cause you would require new hardware, As already advised above if you want new hardware like getting a new mobile phone contracts are involved

Further to this nothing is static when RBI was launched the data caps were about 30GB if I remember correct

I know the data caps are much bigger now.
I was just wondering why when you compare all the plans vodafone have the smallest amount of data and longest contract
even skinny fixed mobile data is more generous

Spark doesn't do RBI. The Spark Rural Wireless product is run over the Spark network, and not RBI.

Skinny is not a regulated product offering.
