Just noticed today - Vodafone are now giving out Huawei ADSL modems. See the broadband page, and click on "Modem options".

Single port: Huawei MT882 - Vodafone Quick Start Guide

Four port and wireless: Huawei HG520s - Vodafone Quick Start Guide

They seem to be packaged by Vodafone really nicely too!

I wish I got one of those instead of my clunky D-Link one

I had heard they were coming, and that they give the best performance with Huawei DSLAMS.

Apparently they give you Huawei Filters too? (Yet to be confirmed).

I too would love to see if it makes any performance difference on my ADSL connection......

IIRC the VF ones will be VF branded?

The HG520s looks like it's Vodafone branded.

Just like Telecom switching too, Alcatel infrastructure and Thomson (Alcatel speedtouch) modems.

It's a good move for both to switch user equip to same branding as what is being used at network level.

D-Link really are just crap, as well as bad performance and buggy drivers the old 604T had power control circuitry that screamed at audible frequency and pumped out a lot of heat.

Their manuals have an unidentified format which does open in Adobe Reader as a PDF...

Unfortunately, they're just Quick Start Guides... so I'm still searching around for more info on the Huawei modems.

At a guess, I would think Vodafone would have PPPoE support in there own Red-Network, which would do away with the need for half bridge.

Anyone know if they do?
