Vodafone's launched a new portal: http://iphone.vodafone.co.nz, made for the iPhone.

The specialised "My Vodafone" currently doesn't do anything, but otherwise, it's just a simplified, iPhone-ified home page.

Whoops! My bad. I suppose this is their way of putting "LIVE!" onto the iphone? One thing I'm glad VF didn't do is taint the UI of the iphone with their shoddy red + white theme

Just noticed the My Vodafone section is now active, can log in and displays my account information.

Looking good

It works indeed (prepay)

It's pretty simplistic - and also the links go to the normal site, so it's quite limited.

They also seem to have gone backwards with the presentation of the mobile number (so it comes up as 6421xxx...) rather than the newer (as it used to be like this in My Vodafone until a few months ago) format.

Vodafone puts out a corporate/self-service site - with ads. As if they needed the extra revenue after charging the users what they do...

Oh, I get it. "Only 200 MB plan? Let's use all in ads"...

Hmm... looks like there are some design issues to iron out:

So... fixes to main.css are required:

---------

ul#globalNav {
    display:block;
    list-style:none;
    list-style-type:none;
    width:100%;
    height:36px;
    background-color:#FF0000;
    padding:0;
    margin:0 0 10px 0;
    background: url(/img/iphone/shading/section-bottom.png) #FF0000 repeat-x bottom;
}

---------

ul#globalNav li:last-child{
    border-right:none;
    width: 33.4%;
}

(This used to be ul#globalNav li.last, but this is a better way)

---------

A preview of the fixes:

... now that's how it's meant to look like. I've tested on my iPod for both portrait and landscape.

Hope this goes through soon.

Yeah, thumbs up for the microsite.
A big thumbs down for the ads, it's not like it is a "free portal for all" where I wholly suppport advertising, chew through that data plan.....

(user-agent swtcher rules)

I totally agree on the ad part.

Vodafone's main page doesn't have them... why here?

So the phone that is supposed to change the world and allow you to "view the full web on your mobile" (assuming it has no Flash content) has it's own customised page? Go figure! Smile
