Could someone who works in Vodafone to help, please?

I recently found that Vodafone broadband is UNABLE to connect to ASB Bank's internet banking (fnc.asbbank.co.nz), which is extremely frustrating since I needed to access Internet banking to check customers payments a number of times every day.

Spoken to a Vodafone customer service in general but sounded he's got no idea what I was talking about. (Asking me to restart the computer and restart the router etc......)

Vodafone 3G/4G seems fine. Connecting via a VPN also seems fine.

It looks like it is a routing issue. Packets seem to get lost at 202-37-243-65.gis.global-gateway.net.nz

Trace route record attached.

The problematic broadband is in the Auckland CBD area (at Beach Road, Auckland Central)

ivor@ivor-OptiPlex-3020:~$ traceroute fnc.asbbank.co.nz
traceroute to fnc.asbbank.co.nz (210.55.180.58), 30 hops max, 60 byte packets

13 202-37-243-65.gis.global-gateway.net.nz (202.37.243.65) 10.498 ms !X * *

I can confirm that ASB Bank's website is not down as it can be accessed from other ISP or via VPN.

If anyone here can please help, thank you to you all in advance.

Have you tried https://online.asb.co.nz/ ?

Seems to be working fine for me, not far from beach road ;)

What plan are you on? Going by the traceroute output provided a pretty old one? Won't be many customers left on that part of their network.

What is the error message you get from your browser?

Most banks have ping (ICMP Packets) disabled.

Go via their homepage, that is a very old link.

Works fine for me. Just redirects to www.asb.co.nz. I'm on Vodafone fibre in Christchurch.

Hey John,

Just realised that 'fnc.asbbank.co.nz' on my bookmark was the old link. Redirecting to asb.co.nz was correct.

But I wasn't even able to see https://asb.co.nz

Thanks for those above who pointed out that fnc.asbbank.co.nz was the old link.

Yes, this link will trigger redirection.

HOWEVER,

The problem was not the link though. I was NOT able to see any of these links

https://www.asb.co.nz/

https://online.asb.co.nz/

https://fnc.asbbank.co.nz/

I CAN ONLY SEE ASB BANK'S HOME PAGE AFTER CONNECTING A VPN.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

On my invoice it says "Unlimited Ultra Fast 100/20"

The browser will stay at "Connecting ...." status until it times out.

What router are you using?

Some of the older plans were PPPoE from memory, do you have the correct MTU/MRU set if it's a 3rd party router?

It is HG659, the original router supplied by Vodafone.

The router information page it's on 'IPoE' connection.

Hi @Ivor

I want to investigate this further, can you please DM your account number and current IP address at the times (and time stamps) you have been having this issue.

Thanks

Shaun.

Hi Shaun

Thank you very much.

I will PM my account number to you shortly.

Someone suggested me to disable IPv6 on the computer this afternoon and indeed that seemed to be the problem.

I use Ubuntu (Linux) and after adding these lines to /etc/sysctl.conf and run "sudo sysctl -p" everything works again.

net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6 = 1
net.ipv6.conf.default.disable_ipv6 = 1
net.ipv6.conf.lo.disable_ipv6 = 1

Thanks for all the suggestions given above indeed.
I didn't mean to be rude but very sorry, I was just getting extrememly frustrated with this.

Now I can connect to asb.co.nz, online.asb.co.nz or fnc.asbbank.co.nz (triggers a redirection) with no problems.

I will still provide my account number to Shaun for investigations but it is all good to me now (I don't really use IPV6 at the moment).

Thanks a bunch to all of you replied to my post.
