Hello folks. I've got this interesting request from Vodafone New Zealand. They are looking for people in Auckland to participate in a trial for their new super fast VDSL2 service.
Vodafone is inviting Geekzone readers who live or work within 1 km of the Ponsonby exchange (picture below) to participate in this landline broadband trial.
Vodafone has already signed up its first trialist and reports that despite poor performance due to the recent storms, his service has delivered some good speeds.
“Our trialist is less than half a kilometre from the exchange and despite the downpour managed to see speeds of almost 30Mbit/s down and around 15Mbit/s up,” says David Joyce, Vodafone’s GM of fixed line and broadband services.
The VDSL2 trial is in beta testing stage and will be intermittent as they test different aspects of the service. Vodafone will provide the triallists with a second phone line to test on so their primary connection isn’t compromised.
“We really want to test this thing, so we’re looking for some hard core users who can really push the limits on what works and what doesn’t.”
The offer is strictly first come first served although as Vodafone rolls out testing to the next five exchanges there will be an opportunity to join the trial beyond the boundaries of the Ponsonby exchange.
If you are interested in this trial please contact Paul Brislen directly (PM is fine). This is available for a limited time only, so be quick. And of course please let us know if you get in.
