In the Xnet FAQ

One of the question point that they made was

Why Should You Get Broadband?

A. Surf the internet up to 50 times faster than a 56k dial up connection! Pay no excess charges, just one low monthly price! Permanent connection which means no more dialing up! (This applies if you use an ADSL/Jetstream router rather than modem.) Surf the Internet and receive phone calls at the same time!

If say your using HSI not Fusion your phone is actually connected to the filter not the modem or router.

Even if your on fusion you connect your phone thru the PAP2T device or the Modem which is the linksys one

So im not sure what the sentance in bracket means.

Can anyone explain?

I think that means the permanent connection and no dialling up applies to ADSL modems and not on dial up modems.

Interesting that the FAQ states up to 50x faster than 56k dial-up. 50 x 56k = 2800k or about 2.75Mbps. So my 6.5Mbps connections is not too bad then!

That doesn't really match the sentance from the xnet page

My uncle asked me to help him buy a ADSL Modem and router so that he can make calls and use broadband at the same time

I was like huh?The phone is connected to the line filter.What's that go to do with the modem/router?

IE if you have an internal PCI ADSL modem, you wont have a permanent connection as you have to "dial-up" when you want to use it.

for the sentance to make sense the fullstop should be outside of the backets, not after modem
