Will Vodafone fast track its 3G network upgrade to beat Telecom? I can already see Telecom 3G 2100 at my house and still no Vodafone 3G(Welcome Bay ,Tauranga). Interesting times ahead!

You may already have 3G coverage from the 900 UMTS network, this is quite extensive in the Waikato / BOP region.

I've heard that Vodafone's 900 UMTS rollout has been ramped up a lot over recent months and there certainly a lot of areas that have been upgraded but are not actually live.

It certainly will be interesting times ahead, particularly to see the quality of Telecom's network.

Our 3G coverage already reaches 70% of the population and we're committed to hitting 97% by April 2010 AT THE LATEST...

So we're already quite a long way towards the goal already which will make it difficult for Telecom to beat us to that level of coverage I would think.

Cheers

Paul

Reading this article on stuff it appears Telecom will have all of their sites running by June 09, almost a year ahead of VF. The coverage is supposed to be about the same, 97% of the country.

This is good news for me either way as I don't get 3G where I live at the moment.

No pretty sure we would be included in the 97%. Gore is a resonable size, about 10K population.

Just look at the horizon - two 4WD rushing in, TNZ in the front one, VFNZ in the second one. Probably just minutes difference?

Seriously though, I hope you get some good service soon. Regardless of provider.

But wait, is that a Lada Niva charging up in 3rd, proudly sporting a 2G logo on the door and driven by NZComms.
