hello sorry for annoying you guys again i would like to ask you guys if x net is ADSL or ADSL2 or something

and is ADSL2 faster??? and if it aint adsl 2 when will we get it? ty im a noob sorry

There are a few dependencies here:
1. if the exchange you are connected to is ADSL2 enabled, then your router (assuming it is ADSL2 capable) will sync at ADSL2 speeds
2. You need a full speed up/down plan to actually achieve speeds greater than approx 3-4Mbps
3. ADSL2 speed profile is only enabled on the Fusion plan, all other plans top out at approx 8Mbps

What sync speeds you'll get come down to distance from exchange, quality of your line etc.

What speed you actually achieve comes down to when & where you use it; i.e. NZ Vs International & off-peak (daytime) Vs on-peak (evening).

XNet gives you whatever Telcom has at your exchange. If it has ADSL2+, then that is what you get. However, the exchanges often are still limited to 8Mbps max even though it might be ADSL2+ enabled.

Basically ADSL modems transmit data as "loud" as it can, where as ADSL2 negociates how "loud" it needs to shout to sustain the connection without being too "loud". The adnvatange is that there is less cross-talk (i.e. less of your signal creating noise on the neighbour's line). ADSL2+ is a further improvement whereby they have allocated double the amount of bandwidth (or frequencies) that can be used for communicating which allows faster speeds. However, phone lines were not designed for the hiogh frequencies so you need to be close to the exchange or else you do not gain extra speed. Beyond 3km from the exchange you do not normally gain speed from ADSL2+ (but you do gain reliability).

There are other additions to the different versions, but that is the important bits.

That router should connect at ADSL2 speeds. Mangere was upgraded to ADSL2 earlier this year, so I'm guessing you are probably on an ADSL2 exchange. Post some speed tests and have a look through your router pages and post some line stats too; up/dn sync speed, line attenuation, noise margins, modulation etc.

oh and wat is the difference between the HSI plan on xnet and the Fusion HSI plan?? coz it seems very expensive

With Fusion your phone service is stopped and you have only ADSL on your line. Instead you are given a VFX service (you still buy and set-up/maintain the hardware). You also do not pay Telecom a cent any more, instead XNet pays Telecom Wholesale for a "naked" line (it is called nDSL or Telecom named it Naked Bitstream).

Also with Fusion you can also get more than 8Mbps if your line can handle it (i.e. closer than about 3km from exchange).

You can never have enough Volvos!

G.DMT = tells me you are connecting to ADSL1. Your line speed of 2336 down, indicates either you are far from the exchange, or you have a fault on the line. Assuming distance from exchange, ADSL2 won't make much difference, you'll need to wait for cabinatisation.
Does that D-Link give you your "line attenuation" figure anywhere? If not, maybe call Xnet and get them to investigate further; i.e. are your sync speeds due to distance from exchange, or is there a fault somewhere.
