Its great being able to just type in any old card number and amount for a one off top up. I had issues with vodafone and that really annoyed me the amount of crap with their IVR just to put $20 on a phone. So I would just carry recharge vouchers with me instead.

I think you need to take some personal responsibility here, you loaded your visa card details onto a phone number, which you now can't remember??? I am sure your bank would love that.

No offence - but how are customer services meant to help someone who can't recall the number of the mobile in question.

If you can find the mobile number, it can be taken off that number and registered to a new one. I understand that the banks would prefer that single credit cards aren't spread across lots of connections.

I'm sure the banks would love it if Vodafone would stop storing credit card information against pre-paid mobile phone numbers as well (no 1 rule of online retailing, don't store credit card details unnecissarily!). There's really no need for it, and this system is an arbitrary PITA for many customers like myself, and anyone else who has more than one mobile phone in their family that they want to manage.

Why not adopt the same system that virtually every other online retailer uses, and just allow us to enter our payment details at the time of purchase?

I find it bizzare that vodafone say they cannot disassociate a card from one phone to put it on another.

Sadly i had to re-topup my vodafone as I have a couple of people that are dragging their heels about shifting so needed to get bestmate again...

Escalate the issue to a manager, they should have access to find out which phone number the card is registered against (I beleive the CSR's have limited access, but don't quote me on this).

The other option is to have the CSR escalate the issue to "Accounts Receivable" who have full access to the credit card system and can remove the card number from your old account.

Brentbart, seeing you work for Vodafone or a Dealer (as far as I can tell from other threads). I would hope you’re views are not held by Vodafone as it is very poor customer service.

I may be 100% biast, but I too have a Vodafone connection, that I haven’t used in a while, and top up $20 a year just for the privilege of keeping the number, but I will most definitely port it across to Telecom when the W850 network is launched due to Vodafone’s recent level of arrogance towards paying customers.

They need to learn that the customer comes first, which is a shame seeing as they use to hold these values.

The customer is number one.

Don’t forget it.
