Hey guys, my wife lost her phone over the busy easter weekend. It was on prepaid with vodafone. Does anybody know how I can go about getting a replacement sim card, don't want to change the number. Also is it possible to blacklist the device so that it cannot be used again?

If you ring Vodafone they'll block the handset and SIM straight away so no calls can be made. You can transfer your number (and credit if it hjasn't all been used by now) so another SIM but last time I did this you still had to pay for a new connection pack.

ID against the mobile number pay for a new SIM and walk out with your old mobile number going

This happened to a friend, and in the time the thieving bastards had the phone and were going thru the $80 or so on it, they subscribed to many chargable sms "services" - mainly adult oriented ones so it was probably horny teenages that took it.

Anyway, vodafone were no help about it because once they had a new sim and loaded it with money and put it into a phone, all the texts started to come thru.

No help at all from the $1 talk to a foreginer service so that number is now no credit, incoming calls only till T day.

So just be aware that any crap you recieve after getting it sorted will cost you, and you cant do a damn thing about it other then text back stop to them on the advice of the $1 nohelp service each time you get one.

Just be careful because some of the SMS services that charge you per message don't always stop when you text back 'stop'. If it doesn't stop try googling the number it's coming from along with "how to stop". Just on the rare occasion they've subscribed to some weird thing they've seen on the Internet etc.

And try and visit a VODAFONE branded store, Replacement SIMS used to be $20 but a Digital Mobile (owning group - Centurion GSM) charged me $30 instead for no reason.

I'm quite sure they are still $20 but there is no credit included. Ensure you have ID and know the PIN and they'll do it there and then.
