I seem to recall seeing a warning about that email on the Paradise or Telstra sites but I can't find it back now.

It's fine you or I knowing this but many people are completely oblivious to such things. Look at the woman in The Herald today who gave away over $600k to some dating site scammers.

Some people just don't take notice of the from address in an email.  I always check that if I suspect something is fishy.

I think there maybe needs to be more direct education about what not to do on the internet. The amount of people I see who post personal information all over the internet, or send information via email without even thinking or realising is amazing.

Getting the internet turned off for having a compromised account tends to help with the learning curve.

I have always told people that no company will ever ask for personal info via email unless they initiated the contact first (ie Emailing the helpdesk or similar)

and yet people still do it.

I keep thinking one day of setting up 'a phishing scam' where when people reply the email they get an auto bounceback saying 'you have just given your personal information to an anonymous person from the internet, what are you thinking????'
