Must say i'm not impressed by Telstra Clear yet.

Firstly I get advised that Broadband would switch in a few days, and my phone 8-10 days later. Deal included a free wireless router, Sales person gave me a couple of passwords, No email account, no username, anyhow I waited...

4 days later nothing, so gave them a ring, appears my request had hit a snag somewhere and they had to start again. No welcome pack yet , also advised them no router received and was told it would arrive soon. Didn't ask about the user name , expected something in the mail!!

3 days later, my orcon broadband stopped....mmm....so i think must be changed, excellent

My orcon homehub isn't working so I grab an old ADSL2 thomson 536v6 and hook that up, play around with the username password, guess random initialsurname@telstraclear.co.nz and use one of the passwords...connection!!  but after a while I realise i still have my orcon fixed IP...

Give telstra a call and they say my broadband is pending might by 8-10 days!!!, I enquire about a welcome pack, my wireless modem, foundout my email address (achieved something). Asked how I should connect to internet once connection was live and was advised  firstnamesurname@dsl.clear.net.nz. Advised I could signing using the above guessed details and the support person was clueless. Was told my wireless router wont be sent until the line is confirmed so that could be a while...complain in a nice way saying I was advised a different scenario origionally....oh well

Sign into my email address and there is an email advising my PDQ broadband was active 10 days ago....guess that may have been the origionally mix up but my telstra account has been active since then so i will have to go back and sort that out i guess once things become live.

Anyways, still have an orcon IP and when I log into orcon can see my usage is still linked to my account so muist still be about to happen. Why does my new Telstra password work on my old orcon account???? Still at least I have some net so shouldn't complain. Guess this is normal?

I must say not impressed with telstra services via their web page either , orcon seem to have a lot more info available.

Hopefully things will sort themselves out in a few days

Why did I switch.... I dont think orcon have much of a future speed wise, I always have max/max plan but my pings are rediculous often around 600, and i really couldn't be bothered having long discussions with a tech, also hate their phone voicemail, would have gone with telecom but think I would rather give up the internet, I just cant do it, plus I will never forget when they wiped all my old wedding plan emails when I was getting married 5 years back because they only keep 6 months on their server....that was the end.

Cheers and if you read to the bottom thanks for listening!

Wayne

Were you changing from a Orcon+ LLU connection?

It seems to me that the process for changing from LLU back to a Telecom wholesale connection like Telstra PDQ still has many wrinkles and often takes ~10days.

Yeah, LLU, and I understand having to wait it's just the poor communication from Telstra

Hopefully things will improve and at least I still have internet in the interim
