Just a quick question... Trying to get into 'twitter'... I've set up my mobile and Im on a TXT600 plan on account. Are txts I send to 8987 included in my 600 monthly txts? Or is it an additional cost per 'tweet' via mobile to this shortcode?

It is additional cost. So even if you have a text plan, sending updates to 8987 will still cost 20c.

Do whatever you want to do man.

What's Telecom got to do with it? We're talking about Vodafone here...

Both Vodafone and Telecom have agreements with Twitter to provide free inbound tweets across their networks. All outgoing tweets sent from your mobile will cost, this is how Vodafone and Telecom make money from the service.

I still think it's great that you can receive unlimited amounts of tweets to your mobile for free....

Vodafone have only just started charging for outgoing tweets from your mobile. Personally I'm disappointed they changed this only now after offering it for free. It should be included in your TXT plan if you're on one.

They offered it for free as a launch promotion. Vodafone always said they would charge for sending Tweets after the promotion.

Be thankful you can receive tweets for free...

Thankful yes, but unfortunately I enjoy posting tweets as much as receiving.

Sorry to take this slightly off topic. Are sent TXTs still included for XT users on TXT plans?

And if VF changed this - how did they inform users? I am also with VF but had not set this up yet but had not heard that they had changed the rules?

Vodafone announced that tweets were going to cost 20c several times via their twitter username "vodafoneNZ" This was also discussed in their forums.

Please remember, Vodafone never actually officially said (via their website) tweets were free anyway, so that fact that they were, was just a bonus.

So something must have changed.

Ahmad, as said, "... regular TXT charges will apply to customers sending tweets via TXT..." which is 20c each TXT to TWTR. It doesn't say TXT to TWTR will be counted as part of the TXT allowance.

@ahmad that there says that outgoing tweets from your phone will be charged (previously free) and incoming tweets will be free. I guess majority read as both being free (and were up until last week friday)

yes agreed; i found out the hard way, being charged 20c each text. I tweeted about it too.. but anyways now with a $10 for 100mb data traffic, its cheaper to just load the Mobile Twitter page and do it that way albeit slower process :-(
