Hello there... My parents-in-law use an old D-Link router and it's now causing some grief.

Any suggestion for a new, non D-Link model we can get from DickSmith tomorrow?

I'm using a old Dynalink router from 1999 - still works like a charm even though it's about 10 years old now :/

I used to use a D-Link DSL-504T, which sucked with it's connection dropouts so went back to my 10yr old modem (hey it's behind a WRT54GL running Tomato anyway and there's no ADSL2+ here yet.)

I would actually recommend a Linksys AG300 - Seems to have good feedback.. It's $169 though but I have installed them in a few houses without any issues.

If you want Wireless, just shove a cheap Wifi Router behind it.. I have a closet full of them if you are in need :P

Also, while you're in DSE wanna get me some Heat Shrink? I just ran out TT

Dont know that DSE stock these but I am using the linksys WRP400 (cable broadband) and have had it for the last 1.5 months without a single drop out..

Since they have VFX a WAG310 is probably the best bet - unfortunately I don't think DSE carry them.

DSE XH 9950 is a cost effective option. Sorry i posted a new topic on this instead of hitting the reply button(old age)

I would suggest anything Linksys, I have found them to be the most reliable and long lasting.

I find all the models especially most recent ones to be great.

I know of one Linksys that is not so good . ( WAG54GP2)

If you can track down a linksys AG310 these have FXO and FXS ports (but no wireless) This would allow you to run VFX in one device and the VOIP seems to improved markedly in the newer linksys devices (I have the WRP400 and it is a huge step up from the WRTP54G I used to run VFX on).

Yea, either AG310 (ADSL / 4port wired) or WAG310G (ADSL / 4+1 port / wireless).
NB: the WAG310G has an extra port that can be LAN or WAN, meaning Cable of Fibre to home capable.

Thanks Maverick. I am looking for a wireless router to replace their old DLink from Telecom days. They use WxC and VFX but if the DLink faults then the PAP2T box can't connect... A pain, and it happens twice a week these days.

Yes we have seen an issue with these routers when they go offline and reconnect on a new IP, they are not blocking SIP traffic when the IP changes, even though the PAP2T hasn't changed it's IP so it's a SIP natting issue for them, passed this issue on to DLink a few times ....... Not interested.

The wag310 is my choice

I'm running the WRT54GL as my home router running the Tomato Firmware (http://www.polarcloud.com/tomato) - and it's awesome.

Would recommend it to anyone.
