Hi guys

I have a problem, I have a z1010 from overseas and can access the vodafone 3g service to stream sky news etc however whenever i go to download or make a video call i get connection failed, I have update the firmware to the lastest from SE (R1k010) but still having the problem, I called vodafone support and they say everything is right on there side, I asked them to help me with settings however they talked about a proxy and port number (8080) to download and video calls, I have checked everywhere in my phone but dont have this setup (they said under internet profiles).

So if anyone who has a z1010 can you please tell me your settings otherwise i will have to look at a new phone.

Cheers

Adz

There is no way to change the video call settings, Try your SIM in another 3G handset first and make sure it not a handset issue.

Hi mrtoken,

I've also got a Z1010 (and yes, Andrewcnz certainly is helpful).

Just to confirm your findings - everything should work except downloading music.
I'm not sure what the problem is, and the people at Vodafone aren't too sure either.
I actually got a call from them yesterday as they had detected that I was using 3G and wanted to make sure that I was a "happy customer".

I explained to them that music download wasn't working, but in reality I wasn't too worried as it was a lot easier to simply rip my own music to MP3 and put it on the memory stick.
They couldn't disagree with that one 8-).

Video calling will definitely be my number use of 3G (as my wife also has a Z1010).

Enjoy!

Nigel H.

the music problem is because of the DRM and proxy/port settings, (from what i have been able to work out) it seems that the vodafone firmware has an area for proxy and port settings under the internet profile where standard firmware does not.
