I make many calls out from work phone, many to 021 phones..

for the last few weeks, when making a call to a vodafone mobile OUTSIDE OF AUCKLAND It takes much longer to start ringing (10 seconds) and when it does you get that "international call connect" sound, where you instantly hear a hissing sound as the AGC kicks into action 5 or so seconds before the ringing sound is heard.

There is a notciceable lag delay during the calls.

The comfort noise instead of being a quiet fffffffff sound is an deafening CHRSSHSHSHSHSHSHSHSHSHHHHH.

The persons voice due to the AGC goes loud and too quiet and loud and too quiet and is almost unbearable!

I must do some recordings so you can hear what I mean., I suspect vodafone are cutting costs by sending calls to Australia and back to Auckland to avoid paying local connect charges.

Unless it's telecom instead of vodafone??? but how would they then know it's out of auckland....

It wouldn't surprise me, they are rather profit greedy and spend little on their own failing systems. (Vlive is ALWAYS crashing, overcharging)

I also had someone call me from vodafone today and the number that came up was something weird like 090293575100

More testing required. hmmmm.....

Sorry,, bleat session.

Are you referring to calls made from Telecom landlines to Vodafone?

Going back 3 or 4 years Telecom were routing approx 60% of PSTN to 021 calls via oz since the termination rate was cheaper than what they were paying Vodafone in NZ to terminate calls directly.

ok and maybe TCNZ are routing there calls via OZ again. Sorry paradoxsm but if you are a telecom NZ customer it would be there routing choice if the call starts from your MSISDN

I guess if you dial using direct dial with TNZ then CLI should always appear on the called 021 number. If not then It is routed from overseas, I get mot so fthe call on 021 from US with country code of China.
