I've switched to one of the new plans and have switched from the old paradise usage page - which was great, updated frequently, and you were able to drill right down to see which sites were givin you traffic.

Now on these new TCL plans, they switched us over to some other usage tool on the TCL site.

Apart from the fact that it seems to break all the time, yesterday it spiked 2.5 gb.

Anyone else having problems with this usage tool, and has anyone got any ways of figuring out for themselves actually how much traffic they have used rather than relying on their (flakey at best) useage meter).

Cheers

I had the same problem - peaked at 2.5Gb at about 10.23am yesterday - pretty much impossible since all programs I have that can access the Internet were shut down. Plus at 2Mbs it's pretty hard to move that much data in about 30 minutes. Spent an eternity on their helpdesk and all they could do was make a note in my account and ask me to call back later on in the billing cycle. I am not going to pay for this usage you can be sure

Has your usage meter come back?? I'm just about to rollover to a new month and it hasn't moved since my original message.

If I get stung I WILL NOT be happy since I had no way of monitoring it.

Mine rolls tomorrow. Will let you know if it changes.

Do you find you get a lot of packets or usage even when youre machines are down, ie. against your router (if you have one). I do, heaps

Apart from the 2.5G in 15mins that they said I have moved(!) the meter has not moved since day 3 of my starting the plan (I am on 10G). I haven't moved too much data (no more than usual) but will be very reluctant to pay for any excess if they charge for it if this is how their metering system works

Well, my plan rolled over today, so unless if FINISHES today rather than starting like it used to, I ain't seen squat difference on the usage meter!!!

I do notice the paradise.net usage page now includes a link to the telstraclear tool.

I've starting monitoring all of the packets/bytes hitting up against my firewall, and it's a huge amount. I started looking for holes in my firewall but there doesn't seem to be any.

Finally after three weeks there's a message:

"We are currently experiencing technical difficulties with this Usage Meter and as a result your usage details are not being displayed. We apologise for the inconvenience and are working to resolve this as soon as possible."

Then I don't expect to pay for excess charges if I they say I have gone over since their meter cannot be relied on to be accurate

I started getting messages that I was getting close to and then over my 10G limit. Looked at my usage and noted that there was no usage in the spreadsheet for nearly 2 weeks and then it started metering again a few days ago. The 2.5G in 30 minutes usage was still there. Spoke to TS and they have noted the problem since I certainly don't plan to pay for excess usage based on this flaky metering system
