Hi,

I had a chance to play with a Nokia 6680, which had VF firmware (vlive) in it.
After 30 minutes I realized that I cannot install any! Symbian application onto the phone.

Always the same error message: Security error. Install cannot continue"

I'd got an instruction to change a setting in the phone menu Tools/Security settings/ ... in an earlier topic. I can tell you now, I tried everything, but no success!
Doesnt matter if you change the security settings, it just wont let you to install any sw!

Somebody knows what else I should try? How can I install a Symbian application to this phone without reflashing the firmware and losing the vlive menu?

BTW I am using a 6680 with the non-VF firmware (V 4.04.07 22-08-05) where I can install anything what I want, no restrictions.

I is a kollege stoodent. Bee nice.

Interesting... I know all smartphones (both Symbian and Windows Mobile) can be application locked, but in reality this hasn't been done - not much sense in selling a smartphone that can't have new applications installed.

I will try and follow up this...

Its nothing to do with the device sold by vodafone all you do is go in the menu of the handset and change one setting.

tools-app.manager-settings-software installation (turn on this option) and now you can install any ap you like.

I have NZ FW on my Nokia 6680 (NZ new) V 3.04.12 and have installed many aps from many websites no issues.

Thanks johnr, I was searching in the wrong menu then. I thought it's under the Tools - Settings - Security - Certif. management

I will give it a go next week.
