Greetings all,

I have a Black Motorola V3, purchased here in NZ from a First mobile store.

Lately, I've been getting a number of MMS messages from vodafone about Vodafone Live, all it's options, how it's so great and that I should use it.

Maybe it's just my phone, but when logging on to vodafone's wap site, it's atrocious. White background, blue links, *nothing*(links) go where they are supposed to. Last night, trying to get some of the items from the 'free VF live starter pack' such as a free background/wallpaper, I got a txt saying thanks for signing up to the free Weather alerts.
10min later I had one saying thankyou for signing up to the national news alerts - and I am positive I never went anywhere near anything trying to sign up for any VF txt alerts for national news or weather.

And if my phone - V3 RAZR - doesn't have VF Live, why is Vodafone touting this - http://www.vodafone.co.nz/mobiles/mobiledeals.jsp ? (Pink V3, saying get into VF Live)

Anyone who can help me make sense of this - please do!

Torque, I think the best way is to contact Vodafone New Zealand directly on their support number and try to find why this is happening.

It would be great if you could let us know the results.

Could be the software version you are using, can you record video clips?

If not, contact your retailer you should be able to have it upgraded for free.

I can record video clips fine. - Will ring them / go to a store tomorrow.

The motorola V3 (pink) does access Vlive and can download ringtones and do other vlive services.

Expect you may find you can not download games,

Not all handsets have access to every single part this is normal

Nothing, except all Pink v3's have the VLive! firmware loaded, as will the next batch of black V3's. Once loaded with VLive! the handset will not be able to record video, although it can play it back :)

I agree with Jeff, but yeah there's a way to have the VF Live in full contents without sacrificing the video recording option without having the VF firmware in it. Cool ei?

Why are Vodafone now selling phones through their own retail stores that barf at the thought of accessing Live!?

Took my phone in during the weekend to First Mobile in Lower Hutt. Female retailer quite willing to help, although she couldn't do anything, and was unable to resend the settings to my phone as they don't have them on the VF intranet apparently, but they'd send it off to get looked at, and possibly do an upgrade of the firmware. (I was extremely suspect that she knew what the firmware was). Called me on Tuesday saying she talked to her boss and the black V3's don't support V-Live, and bad luck for me.

So I now ask kiwiboi, how can it access Vlive, and keep the video camera.

Or, how else can I update the firmware? - I use the camera a lot more than the video camera, which I hardly use at all.

if you can reach the vlive home page sending settings will change nothing the V3 is not vlive approved

The best thing is to check out Vodafones web page for Vodafone Live enabled handsets

If someone sold to you as a Live phone then you should take it back as its not Vodafone Live supported you will only get a basic home page.

Do a search here as you dont need Vodafone Live there are plenty of other wap sites and download locations search google etc.

It wasn't touted as a VF live enabled handest, I was just rather .........'miffed' or so that the pink version of the V3 was being touted as a VF live enabled handset on vodafones promo page, - ad saying 'Get into vodafone live!' with the pink v3 pictured, and I just presumed the only difference between black & pink would be cosmetic.

But thanks for your help guys :)
