Johnr said "watch this space" in march, and we haven't seen anything since. Whats happening? I'll switch back to vodafone if they have 1500 texts to any network, it seems reasonable for $10 seeming telecom does 2500 for $12.

Come on Vodafone, Step up.

Rumor has it that back then Vodafone had a new plan already to go but got didn't launch it after the Commerce Commission essentially made them withdraw their Talk 200 plan.

I don't need a million texts, but something like 200 to any network and more minutes to any network would be great - as I mentioned previously, I feel there's too many on-network plans, and not many off-network plans: and the ones that are available (of the latter) cost a lot.

I agree.

The lack of any off-net SMS addons on Vodafone IMHO is the single biggest factor driving customers from there network to 2degrees.

If they don't put a decent any network text deal on in the next 2 months, about 8 of my friends will be leaving Vodafone and going to 2degrees when one of their contracts are up. Thats the only reason we all stay on their network, because everyone else is and xt phones are too expensive, but now theres a third player.

I can't believe they haven't made one though. 2degrees is there and clearly stealing their customers and they just let it happen like its no big deal. Its kinda like showing they don't value us all enough.

I was on Vodafone On Account, and canceled my plan (and paid termination fees) to join up to 2 Degrees Pay Monthly, as it is a far better deal for same amount of money especially with pay monthly bonus and bonus 100 minutes, however 2D wouldn't sign me up due to my demographics, so I was left in a difficult position of having just canceled my plan, and having nowhere to go.

I would have just gone onto Vodafone prepay, as their $20 topup = 100 free weekend minutes is GREAT for me, but with no texting bundle means that I simply cannot use them even though I want to. So now I am on 2D prepay out of necessity.

Theres no way you would be making a loss from 2Degrees unless you don't change them a cent for anything.

Yes they said they have a points system to decide whether to sign on new customers. 94 points is the threshold. Over that your application is signed up automatically, below that you must pay a $170 bond, and cannot sign up to a term, just one month at a time.

They said the score is based on stuff like which city you live in, your age, whether you own or rent a house, etc, but didn't give me an exhaustive list of things they add to get the 94, or specific examples of breakdown of score, i.e like saying Timaru is 3 points, Pareora is 2 points, Christchurch is 5 points, etc.

Wow, I'm quite surprised...they must be doing really really well to just turn away customers like that. Still, I suppose you could just get Prepay with them if you really wanted to be with them.

Most companies would have a point system of some sort like this but usually the only thing that would result in you being declined would be an adverse credit report from someone like Veda.
Most likely this woudl be the reason you were declined.

I have a perfect credit history, NEVER had a single late payment or anything of the type. Right now I have 3 small debts, an very small overdraft with the bank (Had an overdraft since 1998), small amount of income tax due in April 2011 (note I said due, NOT overdue), and 1 year interest free deferred payment for LCD TV and some other stuff from 2 months ago, and all 3 of the above will be paid off no later than end of this tax year.

I suspect it is actually the reverse is true (in auckland at least).

because vodafone don't have any decent offnet txt plans, many of their customers are afraid to leave because they will no longer recieve txts fromtheir friends who are on vodafone. IOW, if they move to 2D or telecom, their friends wont txt them anymore.

JohnRis referring to the textmerace here.

telecom customer buys 5000 txts for $12 frm telecom and sends them all to a 2D number. Telecom have to pay 2D 5000 x 9c = approx $450. net loss to telecom is $12-$450= $438

why would voda launch an offnet plan and open themselves up to this abuse of MTR?

Maybe when bill and keep comes in they might,because the textmerace will be stopped then
