Hi all

just bought a new house, and had my VF ultimate naked connection switched over: couple of issues that i'd like to run past you before getting on the phone (as they may be house issues, not service)

Problem:
i can't get connection: my linksys WAG310 has a blinking "dsl" light, but won't connect. All the login credentials are the same as at the last house, and i've re-entered them just incase something happened during the move. No line stats in the status panel either.

Information:
Former occupant had the modem in another room (with his desktop)
There are phone jacks in the house with double sockets, but a single socket where i have it now
No luck on either of the sockets in the room where the previous owner had it plugged in - but will check again tonight.
It's the only device in the house to use the phone line.

Questions:
If there is a DSL splitter on the line, would i be getting a blink from the DSL indicator when using the wrong socket?
What are the admin credentials of the stock standard white'n'upright VFNZ modem? (i have one as a backup, but can't get in to configure it)

Any thoughts, fellas? Cheers

Hi, normally if a central filter was installed the socket would be labled with Jetstream or DSL or similar to indicate its dedicated purpose.

A blinking DSL light normally indicates a lack of DSL signal, so the socket you are on has no signal. Remember that a filter (central or small inline) simply provides a filter for the voice service, the DSL is to connect directly to the inbound line.

If a central filter is installed then all phone sockets (other than the one marked for DSL) will only have voice (post filter) signal on it.

As for accessing the modem.

The pretty and basic Vodafone branded interface can be accessed using. user: vodafone pass: vodafone

The actual admin access is user: admin pass:VF-NZhg556

Please note: I have a professional bias towards Vodafone.

Just for the sake of testing, i plugged it into the phone jack in the kitchen last night and all worked and connected seemlessly...

House must be wired funny - i'm guessing the jack in the lounge was for the Sky TV, so i'll look into having that wired up properly so i can have the router with the entertainment unit (running a cable to the ps3 instead of wifi).

Otherwise crisis averted, thanks for your expertise :)

last question: anyone know a ballpark price on having phone wiring sorted out?

Depends on the situation/setup, and expensive.
