Hi Guys / Girls,

Just got a Razr V3x phone and want to setup Gmail on my Phone!

Do you know if its possible?

My phone is on Prepay

Does it have a pop3 client built-in?

If yes, then you have to configure your gmail account and on your phone. The gmail help contains instructions on server address, ports, etc.

Yes, there's a pop3/imap client on the phone. Just follow the configuration instructions on gmail help.

Well I've tried the settings from Gmail, but it comes up with an error. 'Gmail Invalid Certificate' then it asks if you want to continue yes\no, so I say yes it seems to check but, comes up with no new messages when I know there are new messages.

Hmmmm seems like I'm missing something!

Recieving seems to be an issue. I can send from Gmail.

Anyway thanks for all the replys.

Have you enabled pop on your gmail account?

Log in to your Gmail account.
Click Settings at the top of any Gmail page.
Click Forwarding and POP in the orange Mail Settings box.
Select Enable POP for all mail or Enable POP for mail that arrives from now on.
Choose the action you would like your Gmail messages to take after they are accessed with POP.
Click Save Changes.

Don't forget you can access gmail using the wap browser http://m.gmail.com

EDIT: It's always a good idea to make sure you set gmail to keep a copy in the inbox, I made this mistake when I set up with outlook, not good.

Yeah I've done this already, but thanks for the reply!

I use Opera Mini and can get to my gmail from there, but I wanted my phone to check every hour without me having to open Opera blah blah blah

Hmmm, Just to make sure, have you set the incoming port to 995 and incoming server encryption to SSL?

We've heard from some users who've had trouble accessing Gmail for mobile using a Motorola RAZR. We're working with Motorola to fix the problem, but in the mean time, here's how you can access Gmail for mobile from your RAZR:

Go to your phone's Settings menu.
Scroll down to Web Access , and click it.
Scroll down to Go to URL , and click it.
Enter m.gmail.com to access Gmail for mobile.

Also...

Please note, Gmail doesn't support 'leave on server' configurations or
configurations that download the first portion of a message only.
Because of this, it can take a long time and use up a lot of storage to
retrieve your Gmail messages via POP.
If your wireless device has limited storage, slow and/or
expensive bandwidth, or both, you may want to consider other options
for accessing your messages using a wireless device.

Might pay to just use the wap site.

Thnaks for all your help.

SSL set to yes for both incoming and recieving.
Leave on Server set to NO. (this now rules me out as I get up to 100 emails per day)

But I didnt know Gmail had an issue with the Motorola Razr V3x, so thanks for that!.

Opera Mini works great! so it not to bad.

m.gmail.com is great, even on a pc if you want a FAST client.

But if you want to easily manage attachments, and get all your mail in its complete form, pop is the way to go :)

Didn't quite understand this thread till I tried to set up pop access yesterday on my Nokia. Sure enough I got the same 'invalid certificate' error.
