Store this in the "crazy rumours" bin: rumours this morning saying Vodafone Group could be planning to buy Canadian company RIM (BlackBerry) caused a 12% increase in share prices.

RIM? Doesn't seem like a very good investment for them, wouldn't trust them to turn around RIM's fortunes!

Probably a similar situation to Google buying Motorola, most of the investment is for the patents held.

No idea. I wouldn't have a clue what patents RIM hold but it does seem similar to the google/motorola purchase.

No idea. I wouldn't have a clue what patents RIM hold but it does seem similar to the google/motorola purchase.

I think nakedmolerat was getting at the fact the VF is a network owner/operator whereas RIM is a software/hardware developer, so there seems to be less potential beetween them than motorola/google where one is a hardware/software developer and one a software developer
