Anyone else find the SRP527 seems to ignore what DSL modulation you fix it too? Sometimes need to lock it into a particular mode, especially on long rural lines.

Yep, I noticed that a few months back, but since I wanted ADSL2+ it didn't really worry me.

Running firmware 1.01.23

On a similar note, changing and saving the DSL modulation type seems to restart the entire box, whereas pretty much every other setting or service runs independantly.

Same, running VFX provisioned, firmware 1.01.23 (006) Jun 17 2011. Got one of these to install shortly at a rural address, so means I may need to get a separate modem to lock in the DSL profile.

There is a later firmware (1.01.24) released a few months ago. The release notes mention resolution of a DSL training issue for a short line length problem - it may also cover this issue as well...

Only problem is Maverick's indicated there is a DNS issue with that revision, hence why it hasn't been rolled out for Xnet.

Might be worth trying that version though, to establish if the DSL issue is addressed (if you can live without DNS proxy).

Have not seen that issue will take a look, we do not have a resolution yet for the DNS problem we reported to Cisco , the issue with the short training is related to the the modems chipset and the new profile required for cabinetised connections, basically if you were very close the unit couldn't train as it would respond to some settings to back off power.

Interesting, will need to have a bit more of a play. That sample was definitely on an ADSL2+ connection?

What's up with Cisco firmware these days on their SMB products at least? We have 3 of their SMB switches (1x 48 port PoE, 1 x 24 port and 1x 24 port Gigabit). Their interfaces are very average and have basic faults. For example I put in a password which had characters other than letters and characters and it mustn't have saved correctly as I couldn't log in. Needed to hard reset....

Fraser, just had another go, to confirm I'm seeing the problem:

On a side issue, never been 100% happy with that sync rate, given the attenuation, but don't think there's really anything that can be done about it.
