Just a quick question that one of the Vodafone experts may be able to answer because Vodafone couldn't!

A mate of mine wants to know if he gets a data SIM linked to his You Choose plan whether SMS's sent from the data card are deducted from the included SMS's on his plan or charged seperately. Since data can be shared between both devices I am assuming SMS's can but Vodafone couldn't give him an answer.

I am correct in saying the data plan is shared between both though isn't it?

Only the account number will be the same.

Seperate SIM different MSISDN (number) and services are not shared

Ahh I was under the impression a data SIM was just linked to your account.

It's a shame that's not the case - being able to use both a phone and data card on the same data plan would be a great concept.

Definatley Different mobile subscriber number, Mate has two like this and we trid a couple of months ago, not linked.

The data sim is a Different billing plan where all SMS is 20c, all calls are $20 a minute (not a typo) MMS is 20c to 021.029, 50c to Voda aust and Telecom, Video messages, $1 to 021/029, $1.25 to Telecom, Voda aust.

("Video PXT" is the same price as regular PXT until the billing upgrade, March 07)

March 07, Number portability changes all this! Get ready for some amazing deals.

Usually these "data sims" are ingoing and outgoing call barred too, to avoid $20 a minute charges,.

Data only connections (SIMs) have a in and out going voice bar if setup correct it should be impossible to make or receive voice calls from one.

They should also not be able to PXT as it will not be provisioned on the account. Should only be able to access Data and send/receive SMS
