freitasm:

Reality is that this makes it look like Vodafone did not put enough effort.

It this makes it look like Vodafone did not get someone to sponsor the project and say "This has to be done"

It this makes it look like Vodafone did not had any capacity plan in place.

It this makes it look like Vodafone never gave a single damn.

This is something that's been going for one year since the first post. A letter sent to all customers promised this would be fixed October 2015. Lots of talk on newspapers saying how they want to offer a gigabit cable service.

And not a single damn was given.

Interestingly (and probably wisely) Russell Stanners has gone silent on the whole "there's no need to build a fibre network...our cable network will do the same thing just fine". I guess he must be aware of the issues affecting cable customers. I wonder if he's also aware of the issues with the Customer Care call centre (or does he care)?

johnr: I have told you it's in the next lot to be done, They generally cut over a few on the day not just one

You've also told me multiple times that it would be done in the next day or the next week, but each and every time nothing was done. Again, what's different this time?

Projects on live networks / systems don't always go to plan, time lines change hurdles are hit and work stops until issues are resolved, testing and more testing and more testing,

It's like this with any project and I have worked on a few (never fixed line) always mobile

So you keep saying and so you've been saying for months, but I don't buy it. We're not talking about a few weeks delay here, it's been six months. It beggars belief that every week or two for six consecutive months something unexpected happens to delay fixes to Island Bay. It makes no sense that Island Bay has so many dependencies than must be addressed before it can be fixed, seemingly more than any other node.

I've been delivering IT projects for almost 20 years, I'm well aware of the complexities of managing changes to live systems.

You must be able to see where I'm coming from here, you keep saying the same thing over and over and every time it's wrong. You're asking us to believe you when you say the fixes are imminent, but under the circumstances, why would we? If the rules were reversed would you have any faith?

Are you willing to promise 150% that Island Bay will be fixed in the next month?

@ramboky I'm sorry but I am not going to keep going around in circles, Island Bay WKH is not the only Node in the Cable network it consists of a few hundred Nodes, Not all Nodes are the same and many have required more work and more testing before been cut over

Nodes are upgraded / cut over then move onto the next lot then the next lot and so on..........

That is all from me on this topic now, I will comment no further in the thread now, I am not paid for this and was doing my best to keep people updated

@johnr That would be a no then. If you can't even promise that Island Bay will be addressed in the next month then how on earth can you expect us to have any confidence in your claim it'll be fixed in the next week?

WKH was the next lot in January so that's clearly nonsense too.

Frankly you've offered nothing but broken promises for months now so this thread won't be any the worse for you leaving.

@johnr - John, I for one sincerely hope that isn't the case. I've always found your advice and willingness to donate your time to look into things Vodafone-related one of the best things about Geekzone. While I certainly understand some people in this thread are extremely frustrated with the situation they find themselves in, I really hope that frustration spilling over won't rob the community of you.

If you guys are that pissed off with service change providers, that will get Mr Stanners attention one would think.

My apologies to those who valued John's posts here, it certainly wasn't my intention to make him leave geekzone, or even this thread. My only purpose was to express frustration and try to get some straight answers to questions John seemed intent on ignoring.

I stand by what I said though, it's been a long time since John had posted anything in this thread that wasn't an empty promise or something that could just be read off the Vodafone community website.

There are no other providers of 100Mbps connections in Island Bay. But I'm already working on trialling an alternative.

Some people are stuck with crappy service because of cable vs fibre.

I suggest looking at Skinny 4G mobile broadband.

Here's an idea. When someone who happens to work for the company you are waiting help for. I suggest being nice as any isp employees on here tend to do it in their own time not being paid for it.

If you want to get frustrated and feel it's ok to abuse someone trying to help then just leave.... seriously just leave.

I'm sure flip will happily have you as a customer.

I haven't abused anyone, let's not get dramatic here. I pressed for answers to perfectly reasonable questions. John responded by having a tantrum and storming off.
