So I have been in between a few phone calls with VF over the last couple of days after stating things as they are on a post servicedesk call survey they sent me to fill in. A couple of escalations later I have been informed that "Due to company internal policies and business decisions this information is not yet available to the customer. I m sorry to say I am not able to provide you any update or any information regarding this" and another call today to follow up on my speed issues led to " we are not aware of any work happening anytime soon and cannot actually do anything about the network issues happening. At this stage you appear to know more than most of us do".
Upon asking about the docsis 3.1 rollout, it sounds like the work that will happen is only for the core DC side of things possibly and not the nodes and it will be a "up to a gig connection if you line can support it".
I did also speak to the billing team about an early break from my plan and they suggested that they can move me from cable to standard adsl/vdsl if I can get it but that requires signing up for another 12 month contract. But if I insist on leaving the ISP for another, they may consider waiving the early termination fee as there is nothing they can do to fix the issues related to the congestion apart from offer me an alternative of adsl/vdsl. Her tone changed drastically when I mentioned that there will 2-3 VF cable customers moving if I move as I also have family in wainuiomata on the cable network experiencing the same issues.
I was REALLY hoping to get an actual answer on what is happening but after today I really don't know who to believe now. We all know that the upgrades late last year did not fix issues in certain areas and whether being told that here is more work in the pipeline from people posting on behalf of VF on here was just a false hope to keep people sticking around. I also pointed one of the guys I spoke to to this thread and he was relatively shocked that something existed with this much info around reports of poor performance and speed tests from people showing this.
Safe to say, I am pretty over it now and will look at alternatives so I can change providers for a much stable vdsl connection which I have had previously but only moved to cable as it offered a much faster connection.
Dismal.

@Nish Your experience largely aligns with mine and what I've been told by both VF support and insiders. It's obviously quite contrary to the picture that was painted in this thread by other VF staff. After my own conversations I can say with some confidence that we've never been a couple of weeks away from a fix, not now, not last month and not six months ago.
The long and the short of it is VF are in no position to provide timelines on a resolution for congestion issues, but it's likely still months away.
Unless Mike has something concrete to add, it's a safe bet any congestion issues you're experiencing now won't be resolved any time soon.
Nish:

That says to me that whoever you spoke to doesn't understand that cable isn't xDSL.
Definitely feeling the congestion tonight. Oddly enough, YouTube's been exceptionally well behaved, relatively speaking. Videos have started playing instantly, and even 4K playback has been overall reliable.

I suspect @MikeHales is experienced enough to know he shouldn't have stuck his head over the parapet.
I wonder if they're holding out on areas like Island Bay until fibre becomes available there? I suspect (if I'm right) the second fibre becomes available they'll fall over themselves to fix up any congestion issues.

@Shadbolt - I think this comment was more based on the fact that in certain areas due to the known congestion issues will not be able to get full gig speeds.

Fiber isn't available here until 2019. I can't imagine they plan on leading customers on for 4 years.
Same here, fibre rollout was pushed out another 2 years in my area this year to 2019. At this point, my options are to move back to vdsl or move houses to another location that is fibre ready which unfortunately is not as easy being the home owner.

This thread is full of uninformed speculation. It is still uninformed even when based on conversations with staff at Vodafone who would not normally be expected to know what is going on behind the scenes. Like most large organisations, the low-level support and sales staff are often the last to know what is actually happening.
I've had similar problems myself with Vodafone, TCL and other large NZ organisations. A few times, I've said more than I should have only to regret it later.
But I think that your comments go to far. This latest is just plain cynical, and cynical in more than one meaning of the word.
So I had a look at your other posts related to Vodafone. In my opinion, they make it look like you keep grinding an axe. And I'm not the first to notice something awry with your comments:

You think John was blatantly lying to you?
Stop stirring quickymart. :)
Edit: Found comments like this too.
quickymart:
You seriously have to wonder how much longer Russell Stanners has got as CEO.
Does he know about all these problems (including the appalling customer "service" provided by their outsourced call centre)? Does he even care?
Telstra Clear sucked the whole time I worked there, but at least when Rosemary Howard was running the show she would be all over problems like this. What does he do? Seriously, what does he do in his role at that company? Hell, even Simon Moutter is out and about from time to time, interacting with the public.
Shadbolt:
You've gone way off-topic, mate. This thread is about the rollout of DOCSIS 3.1, not about how bad the Vodafone CEO is.
End of Edit
Why are you doing this? There are much more constructive ways to comment on these issues.
