Oh nooo I have just ordered cable from Vodafone :/ I'm in wainiomata. I was going to get fiber but after 6 cancellations from chorus I decided to go with cable as the house already had cable. Oh well I guess it will be better then spending an insane amount on Mobile data

You will enjoy Fibre a ton more than cable at the moment

Yeah I knew I would however I had already taken so much time off work so I had no other option really. Can I order fiber wile on cable ? I might wait till later in the year. Chorus are so painful to deal with so I need a bit of a break from talking to them :)

Cancel cable.  Now.

EDIT:

You will have to sign at least a 12 month contract with VF, with a large Early Termination Fee.

This was my 100/10 Mbps cable last night:

Get the fiber underway with a no term ISP like bigpipe, and then when its ready tell vodafone you have had enough of the performance and let them know where they can stick the contract term for it.

Be sure to make them know its not performing properly by complaining constantly if it doesnt live up to your expectations, keep your own records of the complaints since that will help if you need to get out of the contract when you find it doesnt perform.

I think 6 chorus stand-ups will have used up your allocation of them so I guess it should be a smooth install from now on. I only had to deal with 2 at my sisters place which from what I have read is quite lucky.

If only it was that easy. I can't take more time off work to get fiber :/ it took them 7 weeks and I think a total of about 6 cancellations to get the scope done then they said the needed to do another scope... 3 weeks later they rescheduled that too. Cable has to be better then no internet at all surely. For some strange reason the house we brought has no coper line only Vodafone cable :(

7 weeks is better than average.

Cancel cable. Now.

EDIT: You could get ADSL while you are waiting for cable.

Cable will be as enjoyable as an ADSL1 connection yet paying more than what an ADSL connection costs per month

You can game fine on adsl1. Feedback on xbox live on cable is very negative at peak times from the person I know stuck on it. Not sure how real gaming gets on since hes a console only and own a mac person.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Thanks for the info, can you actuality get out of the contract if the speeds are not as advertised? I do really want fiber but I had already taken a heap of time off work to be home for chorus just for them to cancel at the last minuet then want to go back to square one because they through the house was a double dwelling when its a single.  Im disappointed  that I had to go with Vodafone, I have not heard one good thing about their customer service.

Can someone from wainuiomata post a speed test for this time? also does is matter where in wainui you are?

Fibre is totally superior to HFC cable.

You have two choices:

1. leave cable by cancelling now, at no cost

2. leave cable later by a prolonged series of negotiations and complaints to Vodafone, with the risk of a large Early Termination Fee

Disclaimer:  I am on cable is Island Bay, with no cable option until December 2019. I envy you.

This is my "100/10 Mbps" connection right now:

It's incredibly painful tonight. I typed up something a few minutes ago, but deleted it all because it was quite vitriolic and rage-filled. Long story short, I'm prodding some of my friends again to see if we can again look into finding a different flat - one where fibre is available. The connection is horrendous tonight, and even basic tasks are driving me mad. Speed test seems to have moderately jumped from before, but at this level of performance it's all horrific regardless. >_>

Suppose I'll just watch some stuff off the NAS today then. Attempting to enjoy myself online is proving to be a fruitless endeavor, so I'd rather avoid the hassle entirely.

Not to far from the hill, before the mall and countdown. It's a shmae that Vodafone are not upgrading the network in a timely manner or at least communicating what steps they are taking.

To someone who has been without internet for so long the 7mbps looks pretty good though :) I think I'll order fiber and try to get out of the contract. Does any one know what the early termination fee is
