Not to far from the hill, before the mall and countdown. It's a shmae that Vodafone are not upgrading the network in a timely manner or at least communicating what steps they are taking.

To someone who has been without internet for so long the 7mbps looks pretty good though :) I think I'll order fiber and try to get out of the contract. Does any one know what the early termination fee is

And to someone who pays for 130mbps down and barely getting 7mbps at peak times, it looks pathetic! You are doing the right thing cancelling and moving to fibre. Cut your loses now.

"A $199 early termination fee applies to your broadband plan."

@MikeHales is there any news to share yet. Are we talking weeks or months to see improvements on the cable network?

Kodiack:

It's incredibly painful tonight. I typed up something a few minutes ago, but deleted it all because it was quite vitriolic and rage-filled. Long story short, I'm prodding some of my friends again to see if we can again look into finding a different flat - one where fibre is available. The connection is horrendous tonight, and even basic tasks are driving me mad. Speed test seems to have moderately jumped from before, but at this level of performance it's all horrific regardless. >_>

Suppose I'll just watch some stuff off the NAS today then. Attempting to enjoy myself online is proving to be a fruitless endeavor, so I'd rather avoid the hassle entirely.

Try Brooklyn when moving.. we never have issue on speed even on peak hours.. just like now at 8PM. note that I am even testing on wifi 5Ghz.

They are still actively selling connections to the cable network, they should stop until they can inject some life into it

While I understand that getting 10mbps down is no where near what we are paying for I don't see how 10mbps is in unusable . When I as living closer to the city and receiving 9mbps I could still stream youtube and Netflix fine. Am I missing something ?

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

They won't do that as all they care about is profit.

When people are saying it's unusable it's because it's unusable. Just because you get a 10Mbps speed test doesn't mean the connection is behaving like a reliable 10Mbps connection. Often when speedtest was reporting 10 or even 15Mbps I couldn't stream video without it turning into a smeary, lo-def mess or regular dropouts.

They are still actively selling connections in areas they know to be congested, like Island Bay. Call sales today and ask about cable in Island Bay, I guarantee you they'll make no mention of the fact the connection is utter rubbish during the hours you're most likely to use it. Enough people at Vodafone are aware of this issue that the only possible explanations are either the sales team are knowingly lying, or the information is being kept from them. Neither explanation paints a particularly good picture of Vodafone or their integrity.

OK I see, that's very disappointing to hear. Come on Vodafone at least keep your customers upto date with what's being done about the issue.

Here, have your 12 piece bucket of chicken! Oh, only 2 pieces in it? Thats ok, its best effort and this is peak time for the drive thru so, meh? Happens every day and we still sell a 12 piece bucket? Oh well.

To be fair to @Ipv89, he was just questioning the use of the word "unusable", not the very reasonable complaint that 10Mbps is not good enough.

Unfortunately I have no choice at all I am not even get adsl. Cable is getting installed on Friday :( I really do hope that Vodafone do something soon. I'll be ordering fiber soon enough well once I can take enough time off work to be home for them. I do however agree that there is no way Vodafone should be still signing new people up to their cable service.
