freitasm: I've noticed tonight it feels a lot snappier than before. Speedtests for me are showing around 40Mbps. so even though not 130 Mbps as before, it's a better than 15Mbps I've seen.

Still work in progress but it seems something changed tonight.

Anyone else's comments on this?

I'm getting around 20Mbps. Far from great but better than this time last week. Last night I was in the low 80s, even between 9pm and 10pm. Not sure if there's a consistent improvement yet or it's just different levels of usage on my node.

My worry is that this is what they are going to consider 'decongested'. When I see snap fibre on the truenet report holding steady at 100Mb/s all day, that is what I want my connection to be like again.

It's 9 PM. It sure doesn't feel like 9 PM!

Given that I'm also in a flat with 17 or so other people, this is quite impressive. Maybe this part of Kelburn is finally in the clear now. I'm not getting my hopes up quite yet, though; I've been falsely optimistic a couple of times before. :D

Please review the official comms from Vodafone page 17 in this thread, Early hours of this morning some capacity work was completed for Wellington but still loads of work to be done

Yeah I had a look at that, it said that Vodafone will be improving capacity. Just wondering by how much.
It seems to the lay person that architecturally the HFC network is always going to be vulnerable to this issue, unless there is a magic ratio of connections that means that everyone can go berserk at 100Mb/s and see no ill effects. At 7% growth per week that is one hell of a task to keep up with.

And this is why I didn't get my hopes up. ;)

Latency's been inconsistent tonight, which is why I ran a speed test. At least sites are loading okay, and Netflix seems to be performing adequately.

Looks like you're seeing a lot of fluctuation as well. My latency started bouncing all over the place shortly after my post. It's double to triple what it normally is, with a bunch of variance.

Mind you, the servers I'm on are in Australia, so the numbers there are a bit worse yet.

I was experiencing variable speeds like that last night, but not tonight. The lowest speed I recorded tonight was 35Mbps.

This is what I'm getting on 100/10 Cable in Strathmore, Wellington.

I'm getting this throughout the day, night/peak time speeds are worse. It has only happened in the last few days, but being blamed on Netflix - I have a fault ticket open at the moment.

I can only get decent speeds by taking a day off work and using it at about 10:30 in the morning. By 4pm I'm down to about 15Mb/s, by 9pm I'm getting ~4Mb/s. I have a feeling I'll be moving to VDSL in October once the HFC upgrades are complete.

COOL NEWS!! It's school holidays for the next two weeks, gonna be some great truenet results next month :-)

Unfortunately, my only options are cable or ADSL 1!
