One would hope they will kill 2 birds with one stone and sort additional capacity as well as docsis 3.1 with each node being upgraded
3.1 is backward compatible so we could/should see new offerings and improvement before the upgrade is completed. This does depend on the model they are adopting and what politics are in play.

[One would hope an ISP wouldn't allow their network to deteriorate to the point it offers less than 10% of its advertised capacity. One would hope an ISP would engage with customers affected by network issues and do their best to resolve them, not pretend the issues weren't happening and exacerbate them by persuing new customers in affected areas. One would hope an ISP would be honest with its customers, not lead them on with false hope of fixes, just to retain their business. One would hope an ISP wouldn't penalise a customer for trying to break a contract the ISP couldn't honor.
When it comes to Vodafone, hope is a recipe for disappointment and frustration.]
Not sure where to start with this but there is no one allowing the network to deteriorate - see plans for gigbit speeds from Stuff. Use of the network has grown massively and we're moving to not only remove the congestion but increase speeds.
I have personally acknowledged the congestion issues and also relayed information on plans and progress to remedy that - there was a node-by-node breakdown of an upgrade programme on Vodafone Community during the last 1/4 of last year. So, no pretending it's not real.
I can't speak to the exacerbation or penalties points but while sometimes we cannot reveal everything in plan, we would always be honest.
If there is a specific issue or issues, happy to take it offline and address but sorry I can't let set of statements that pass.
Least that answers my question that DOCSIS 3.1 is still happening :)
I will wait it out for the docsis 3.1 upgrade as the that is roughly when my contract expires so I can up and leave without having to go through the argument of getting them to waive the early termination fees.
If nothing comes out regarding any remedial work or what the docsis 3.1 will bring, I'm out along with relatives who are on cable as well.

And what are the plans to remedy the congestion issues which still remain after the node-by-node breakdown? This is primarily what a few of us have been waiting for. Docsis 3.1 rollout is NOT the answer either as the existing network cannot even successfully cope with the 130mbps speeds, unless there is a massive upgrade happening to replace the existing nodes with bigger units to handle this load?
A triple post doesn't bode too well for having a solid connection heh. In any case 8-9pm is possibly a better indication of peak time speeds.

With respect Mike, getting less than 10% of advertised speeds for the better part of a year is letting your network deteriorate. How else would you describe it? I understand that work is going on now to increase capacity, but that work should have been undertaken a long time ago, before it became an issue.
Yes, you have acknowledged the congestion, three weeks ago. It's been an issue since April last year. As for relaying plans, you haven't actually said anything except that there are plans and a fix should be coming soon, something your customers here have been hearing for many months.
Regarding honesty, I'm not saying anyone is being overtly dishonest, I'm referring to the lack of honest dialog about the issues and about Vodafone's ability to resolve them in a timely manor. Yours is the first official communication from Vodafone addressing congestion that I'm aware of. Further to that, Vodafone are actively selling cable into congested areas and making no mention of the issues, impacting both existing and new customers.
To date Vodafone's handling of this has been nothing short of terrible.

I think people would prefer it if Vodafone kept the increased capacity in reserve to maintain the 100Mb/s service for more than 6 months.

Surely this is a matter of priority, immediately address the existing congestion issues or focus on upgrading the network to a newer, better technology. If it is the latter then they are allowing the existing network to deteriorate in favour of upgrading to a new technology at later date.
Vodafone have proven they can fix the congestion issues as my node was upgraded several months ago and my congestion issues have completely gone.

Near full speeds - high 90's on speedtest.net
