Sorry, can you please jog my memory (as this thread is awfully long now), why have you not moved to VDSL? I can't quite recall the reason.

Thanks to TDR, our connection is fully free until Vodafone gets their issues sorted. While the connection may be frustrating, it's certainly difficult to complain about the price. ;)

Fair enough, but I'd personally rather pay something for something that works, as opposed to nothing for something that rarely works.

Why not get VDSL installed now, and test it alongside your cable connection? What have you got to lose?

About $100 a month? Getting service for free is a pretty sweet deal at the end of the day, and I'd like to think that Vodafone hates providing free Internet near as much as I hate having inconsistent performance.

Hello all

Thanks for all the posts and information about this issue.

We’re working hard to increase capacity on the cable network. After investing $6m late last year, we have an even bigger investment project in train which we are confident will future-proof the network for years to come. This latest round of investment is more intensive than before and also more complex, so unfortunately we can’t give an accurate date to relieve the congestion you are experiencing just yet. We’re working as quickly as we can and hope to have things sorted in Wellington quite soon.

As I get more detail, I will of course share it here and in the Vodafone Community.

I'll keep a watchful eye on this thread also.

Mike

Ah, so much enthusiasm back then.

That was a month ago now and not a single update of any substance. I can't say I'm at all surprised.

They're not really providing the service though, are they? Yes, you're not paying them anything, I agree - but you're not getting much out of them either. Ah well, your choice to put up with it, I guess.

@ramboky at all

Apologies for the delay in update.

In the past 3 weeks, we have upgraded the Karori Node, Mirarmar Node, Burma Node + a couple of DCMTS upgrades. There's more to come and I will pass along as and when I can.

A couple of folks have shared data they've been collecting and that's very helpful so if anyone has done the same feel free to bundle and message me with the data and ideally your customer number so we can assign the data to a node etc.

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

Thanks for the update, but as I mentioned last time, notice of an upgraded node means nothing without context and an explanation of how that affects timelines. Basically all you're saying is that work is happening and a fix is coming, which is exactly the same message Vodafone have been sending for over a year. When is it coming? This month? Next month? Next year?

Why is it so damn hard to get a straight answer out of Vodafone about when they plan to have their broken network fixed?

After 2 hours on the Phone to Voda last night it looks like something has happened (previous speeds 20Mbps max up 4 down). Now to see if this holds up during this evenings busy time.

No internet at all here (island bay). No updates on the vf network status page either. Anyone else having troubles or just me?

Looks like my joy has been short lived, back down to 10-18Mbps down, 4 up now, latency to the local Wellington Voda server on speed test.....302ms.

This to me indicates that Voda have massive problems with their network capacity planning (or are not willing to spend the money to ensure the demand is met), they need to sort it out once and for all (it's not rocket science guys). If I was a business customer I would be getting SLA rebates every month and by now would have a good reason to cancel my contract.

This has gone on for nearly a year and is unacceptable, my tolerance for the excuse (and that is what it is) that it is been worked on is fast running out.

Unfortunately for me I have to stick to Voda cable as vanilla DSL is the only other alternative (Chorus in their wisdom have only laid fibre halfway up my street).

Have you restarted your cable mode?
