The connection's continuing to perform well into this afternoon. YouTube still has its, erm, "moments", but last night was fantastic and today has continued to be good. I think our upload has reached a historical maximum as well, which is certainly promising. :)
Nish:
Sigh...4.20pm on a 130/10 connection in Wainuiomata as well
On the plus side, my 24 month contract is now over so it would be good to get some answers otherwise I am shifting my services to another ISP and picking up VDSL.
@MikeHales - Do you have an actual update with relevant updates around upgrades timelines or congestion relief?
It is clearly going to be a question of time this, recent posts show a node upgrade seems to give a major boost in speed but if the node upgrades for Wainuiomata are still a long time away then yeah VDSL seems a good option
It's near peak hour. The connection is actually continuing to perform exceptionally well. Netflix has been an absolute pleasure, and my gaming experience is smoother than it's otherwise been all year.
Still going to give it a couple of weeks in case this is another false hope, but the cutover yesterday seems to have helped a heck of a lot. I'll stop posting here for a while if things continue to perform well, since I otherwise won't be contributing much to the discussion then. Expect to hear from me either as soon as things go south, or in a week or two if the connection remains consistently good. Hopefully it's the latter, for your sake and mine. :P
The true test will be when everyone realises the node has speed/bandwidth again and start streaming/torrenting/etc
Island Bay, cable 100/10, node WKH
The second night after the upgrade:
I've been in the high 90s all day, just starting to slow slightly now:
Better than last night.
A huge improvement on the past few months.

I expect to hear from you in about 4 months then. I was just looking back and page 89 (October 5th) was where I was announcing that my connection was fixed.

Pretty much begs the question of "How Gigabit will DOCSIS 3.1 be?", esp as the likes of Netflix brings out more 4K content which will place even more demand on the cable network
Middle of the afternoon on Sunday, and I'm getting 5-6Mbps in Wainuiomata, following every night over the last week getting 2-3Mbps. MikeHales: It would be super nice if you could tell the network team to prioritise our node for an upgrade, because at the moment this service is terrible.
thecatsgoolies: Mike can't tell the network team where priority work needs to be completed, It's not part of his job / scope
I'd gamble that Mike knows more about where the congestion is than the network team. I am convinced they don't/can't monitor it. Or they are a bunch of sadists. That is always a possibility.
