Demeter: We're going to need a sizeable amount of information to troubleshoot this one, I will get in touch with johnr to get a post up detailing what is required.
In the meantime, I can do some preliminary checks. If possible, please PM me either your broadband login user-id or Vodafone customer number. Please also include the name of the model router you are experiencing this issue with and what steps you are currently taking to restore services (ie. rebooting router, applying static DNS, etc)
Thanks for your patience folks - I am working with a team of people on this issue and would appreciate as much techie feedback as we can get so we can get to the bottom of this.
Cheers,
Lon

mizzlev: Ok - I've recently been experiencing incredibly slow speeds on my desktop.
This one has me stumped..
Router: Huawei HG556a
Laptop: Speedtest 10+MBPS (Hardwire and Wireless) on Win 7 64 Home Edit.
Desktop: Speedtest 0.24 ish MBPS (Wireless) on Win 7 64 Prof.
Desktop: Ralink RT61 MIMO Wirelss Lan Card.
Signal Strength is excellent.
All devices are obtaining DNS automatically and have attempted to manually set the IP on desktop with no resolve.
Last week is when I really started to notice the slow Desktop speed. Was unable to find solution and at some point the speeds were fine again until I restarted the router today. Now incredibly slow!
I have performed isolation tests, moved the router closer to the desktop, however I dont think that is relevant if other devices are getting good speeds.
Not sure if this falls under the thread topic, but thought extra information may help.

Might pay to get this moved to a new thread as it's not really related to the DNS issue.
However have you tried the desktop connected via a cable?

Zeon: Sounds like the DNS forwarder on the Vodafone Router is getting stuck. Not sure what it runs, if Linux maybe Dnsmasq?

This is what we're investigating at the moment. Our team have tested a couple of connections which have had the same symptoms and this appears to the common cause. The DNS service seems to crash for reasons unknown. We are liaising with the hardware vendor and will update as soon as we have more info.
